How about a 10-0 start for University of West Alabama Baseball after this weekend's sweep? Eric DuBose and co. have been on a different level on the mound, allowing no more than six runs in a game and allowing two or fewer runs in 6 of 10 games. Saint Mary’s 6’4 Sophomore Mikey Lewis has been one of the best early mid major prospects in the 2026 NBA Draft this season. Through his first five games Lewis is averaging 21/4/4 while shooting 58% from three on 6 attempts a game. Lewis has also been a major part of Saint Mary’s 5-0 start. Lewis is one of the best shooters and passers in the class who excels with and without the ball. Here is the play in question from the Cincinnati Reds at Milwaukee Brewers game. The only error there could be is a missed catch error on Bauers at first, but this sure looks like Bleday has this play beat at first. This is purely a judgment call from the scorer, and I’m sure it is being discussed, but if he thinks Bleday is out, the error is correct, making the four runs in the inning unearned to Jacob Misiorowski. If he thinks the play would have been a single if he held onto it, all four runs are earned. I’m sure Bleday will appeal for a hit, because I thought he was safe regardless. But, this is a complete judgment call by the scorer in Milwaukee. #ATOBTTR #ThisIsMyCrew

I mean, Toronto Blue Jays fans are annoyed now, but had any runs scored after this play today, which was ruled an error, they would have been really mad when this most likely gets changed to a hit, because this really isn't an error either. Third baseman is on the run, and throwing awkwardly on the run. If he properly sets he never gets Lopez, so you shouldn't penalize the fielder for doing everything he can to try to make the play. Now, no runs ended up scoring, but I suspect this will get appealed and changed, because this looks well above ordinary effort.

I got a record number of DMs and mentions from this controversial scoring decision from the 10th inning of last night’s Colorado Rockies and Los Angeles Dodgers game. Mookie Betts smokes this ball which nicks off the second baseman’s glove to score a run. This was ruled an error with no RBI. Mookie is certainly owed one from earlier this year and he should appeal this. This is 103.9 off the bat with the infield in. The question is did Julien miscatch this ball or did he not have enough time to react? Based on where he is, where the ball started and ended relative to the pitcher, I certainly would have scored this a hit without much thought. This isn’t dropped, Julien cannot react quickly enough to it. This got so many people’s attention because Betts ended the day 0-for-5 with no runs batted in. You never know with the committee, but this should get changed. This is a hit in my mind. #Rockies #Dodgers

This was originally scored a triple and an error, and almost immediately changed to an error on the right fielder and a throwing error on the center fielder. The original error on the rright fielder was for colliding with the center fielder as it looked like he had the ball. However, this was changed back to a triple and an error, as you have both fielders on a dead sprint back into right center. While yes, it might be a catch, the catch itself, and the play, is well above ordinary effort. The collision error isn't for this type of play, but a play where a fielder is situated where he can field the ball with ordinary effort and gets run into, with the ball getting knocked out, so this was changed after a review after the game but before stats were posted.

For example, if after a single to right field, the batter takes a wide turn at first and advances to second when the right fielder throws behind him, the batter should be credited with a double provided such throw was made with the intent of retiring the batter.” This is exactly what happened, so maybe New York MetsBooth is paying attention to socials and will let folks know this should be a double by rule. #LGM #ThisIsMyCrew

This is NEVER an error. This play where Brice Matthews is on the dead run, leaping to save a home run, and nearly making a SportsCenter Top-10 (this would have been No. 1) play is NOT an error. This is way, way, way beyond ordinary effort. An error is a dropping of the ball or a misplay in which the average fielder is expected to make the physical catch at that position, using ordinary effort. There is nothing ordinary about this. This is ALWAYS a hit. ALWAYS.
