In the video, an agent approaches a man who is filming and asks where he was born. The man answers, Somalia. The agent immediately responds, “Somalia? Do you have your ID on you?” The man says yes. The agent follows up by asking, “What do you have, a passport card?” … an especially revealing question, since obtaining a U.S. passport already requires proof of U.S. citizenship. When the agent asks to see it, the man pushes back, asking why. The agent’s answer is blunt and incriminating: “To verify your citizenship.” This is not routine enforcement. It is racial profiling, plain and simple.
