People don’t realize how screwed California is. It is functionally bankrupt, but a state cannot declare bankruptcy. The pension benefits are swallowing the state budget, it cannot reduce those pension benefits, and the pension benefits are senior to the state’s bonds. The pension benefits have to be paid before the debt is paid. California cannot print its own money like the federal govt can. They are praying for Democrats to control everything after the 2028 election so that California can get a federal bailout.

The budget has doubled over the last decade, 2.5 times the rate of inflation. And we know that there is a huge amount of fraud going on in the budget that no one has even scratched the surface of. Newsom has vetoed audits that would get to the bottom of some of that fraud. Why would you ever do that? We need audits. Before you propose new and unprecedented taxes, I think you have an obligation to taxpayers to make sure that their money is being well spent. The first place to look is with all this fraud. We've seen it in Minnesota. We all know the fraud is there. Root that out first before you go back to taxpayers for more and drive job creators out of the state.

American ran a business in California for over 10 years remodeling manufactured homes. He sold the company California Department of Taxation just sent him a demanding he provide 3 years of all ledges so they can come auger him for a “use tax” He’s never even heard of that, I looked it up The California ‘Use tax’ is when you buy and taxable goods from out of state and the seller might not have collected the California sales tax So now he has to try and hunt all this information down, for every purchase so California can try and collect taxes on it, because maybe the seller didn’t collect the right tax “Talk about government overreach” “Like, we don't even have a wholesale certificate. We don't buy wholesale. Everything we buy, we pay retail, we pay sales tax on it. We don't charge our customer sales tax.
