BREAKING: David david friedberg says "California is functionally bankrupt" "People don't realize how screwed California is, & I worry that if California falls, so does the union. "$250 billion to $1 trillion short." "This is because for California to get rescued would be a big cost to red states, & I think it creates in the years ahead a lot of tension." "California's functional bankruptcy is a major risk to the country. & I think we need to figure out what we can change to fix it." How we got here: "California has a public pension system, & that public pension system retirees have paid into it & they get some benefits out, & the amount that they're owed back out is somewhere between $250 billion - $1 trillion dollars more than has been paid in. $250 billion to $1 trillion short. If it was the federal government, it would be like, okay, we'll just print more money. California doesn't have the ability to print money, so California has to pay this out, and you can't restructure retirement benefits. There is a Supreme Court case in California that said that once an employee has been offered retirement benefits, even if they're currently an employee, you can never restructure their retirement benefits. It has to stay forever, and the state cannot declare bankruptcy. There's no way for the state to functionally declare bankruptcy. There's no law to allow it. No state has ever declared bankruptcy, and the retirement benefits sit senior to the bonds in California. So you have to pay out the retirement benefits before you pay out all the bond holders that have loaned California the money that they use to run all their programs and services." People Are Fleeing California & Their Solution Is To Now Tax Everyone Who Leaves. “A California Exit Tax” “They are now weaponizing all attorneys in the state” To Go After Those Leaving Both individual and businesses will now have their assets valued by the State and forced to pay taxes on whatever amount they are assessed at 🤯 “Taxing the richest of the rich. It's the latest proposal on the table of options lawmakers will consider this year to help close California's big budget hole. California lost 27,000 tax filers Who made over $200,000 back in 2020 and 2021. This came out 45 minutes ago. Wall Street Journal, Yahoo News, MSNBC, Newsweek, they're all talking about this new Tax and what they're doing. Well, what they're gonna be doing is an annual tax on the rich based on their assets, but more importantly, They are now weaponizing all attorneys in the state to where they can begin suing rich people saying, you know what? I think you're under reporting your true net worth. We need to, you know, bring in a forensic accountant and go through everything. Look at all your homes worldwide, look at all your assets, look at all your bank accounts, Look at what your businesses are worth and determine if you're under reporting. There and this is this is what's gonna happen. And if they are then they're gonna have to write a fact check to that attorney And the state of California, but this pales in comparison to all the changes that have been worked on the last 35 days. December 2nd, they reported something called, And now this is law. The California exit tax is a one time tax that must be paid by businesses and individuals Who relocate out of California. Reminds me of that movie, um, what was it? Where he's like, now you can't leave. The Bronx Tale. Now you can't leave.”

American has a health insurance plan with UnitedHealthcare His wife needed surgery to remove her gallbladder - Surgery cost was $15,000 - Overnight stay was $12,000 - Insurance paid $900, he must pay the rest His son needed an ear surgery, the cost of the surgery was going to be $11,000 with insurance. The cash price for the surgery was $6,000 “The cash price is like half of what it is if you run it through insurance” So he tried to not use his insurance and pay the cash price, this is what happened “I was going to do for my wife's surgery. I was gonna say, we're just not even using insurance. We'll just cancel it. And I'll just pay the self-pay price. Turns out you can't do that because the hospital will sue you if they find out you have health insurance because they make more money if they charge your health insurance.” This is a scam He says he’s not paying the bill because it’s a scam, “We're wanting to try to soon, try to save up money for that so we can have another kid. People wonder why the birth rate is so low, which honestly, I'm not going to pay any of this bill either. Like, what do got to do? Take me to jail?” “Number one cause for bankruptcy is medical debt. Why is it that it is just okay if in this country to extract wealth from people that don't have any? But if you're a billionaire, you don't even have to pay taxes.Because that's all any of this is. It's all a scam. It's all designed to screw you over and take your money. The people that have no money, they want to take more of your money and give it to the millionaires and the billionaires. Well, you get screwed. You get stuck with bankruptcy and your kids have no future.”

Elon Musk: California is de facto a one-party state where you can't get things done. "I loved living in California, but the problem is you cannot get things done. This is simply a description of fact. Ask anyone who's done a large project in California, how long would it take you to get the approval to proceed and pass CEQA in California for a large project? Two years, and you're doing well if you do it in two years. And you're going to get a ton of people who are going to sue you, just for the hell of it, basically. California's going to need a crisis to have deregulation and delitigation. The two entities that most control the Democratic Party are the unions and, secondarily, the plaintiff bar, basically, the lawyers that sue, especially class action. That's who controls the Democratic Party. Anyone who's familiar with the inside baseball of this will agree with me. This is, in fact, the case, especially in California. So, the issue is that the lawyers write the legislation to make it easy to win lawsuits in California because they funded the election of the officials. The people who got elected got funded by Democrats and lawyers. So, then they write the legislation to make it easy to win lawsuits and get gigantic awards because they got the people elected. And you have this nightmarish circle. There has to be an above 0% chance of a Republican getting elected in California. It has to be above 0%. Otherwise, you have a one-party state."
