BREAKING: Elon Musk admits that "Hardware 3 simply does not have the capability to achieve Unsupervised FSD". 7 years ago, Musk said HW3 Teslas had "all the hardware necessary, compute and otherwise, for Full Self-Driving. He repeated this for years. Musk defrauded millions of Tesla customers.

@elonmusk April 2019: Musk said HW3 had all hardware necessary for FSD. FSD price climbed from k to 5k on that promise. 3M+ HW3 cars sold. Now it is discounted trade-ins. That is a multi-billion dollar retroactive admission.

@elonmusk He didn't defraud anyone. He believed it when he said it, and is offering upgrades. Everyone who I see claiming he defrauded people are those who never bought a Tesla.

@elonmusk HW4 is also incapable of handling a enormous model like unsupervised, HW5 will be the only way to have low latency and enough power to handle unsupervised; not to mention a new generation of cameras, camera washers and network architecture

@elonmusk Nor can HW4 or anything. He can throw all the compute and it and it will still not perform FSD. It's limited by sensors, not compute.

@elonmusk I own a '22 HW3 Modely Y. It is by far the best value car purchase in my 30+ years of car ownership. And the value will be even better when Tesla upgrades it to HW4. The only fraud here is you Dan.

@elonmusk Not sure if you are right to point that out. FSD is now architected differently from back then, there is a point where the older hardware just cannot accomplish the new version of FSD. You of all people should know that being in the industry.

@elonmusk That was his understanding then - now he needs to follow through with the HW3->HW4 upgrades. If not, we can call him a fraud and sue him. If you think he's already a fraud, what is stopping you from suing him now?? Put your money where your mouth is.

That’s an overly harsh claim. I too am patiently waiting for an upgrade but I’m not gonna claim it’s fraud. Elon is overly optimistic above literally everything. But look at what they HAVE achieved. It’s totally unreal. It’s regrettable it’s taking so long but I love my Model Y and I’m gonna wait it out

@elonmusk It was all a fraud to save Tesla from bankruptcy. And real FSD still is a fantasy. Customers should reclaim the $30,000/year they were supposed to be making since at least 2021. Or the net present value of $200k that, according to Musk, their cars have.
