👉 India has recently joined an international technology coalition known as Pax Silica, with a dominant role played by the United States. While this initiative may offer certain benefits, it also raises serious concerns that merit urgent discussion. 👉 If India is required to align with shared standards and systems under this coalition, there is a possibility that Indian data may be processed or governed through foreign platforms or frameworks. This raises critical questions about the effectiveness and enforceability of the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023. ⦿ Would the private data of each Indian citizen be protected under the DPDP Act? ⦿ There are apprehensions that India’s long-term policy autonomy in areas such as AI development, semiconductor strategy, and digital infrastructure may be constrained by external standards and oversight. 👉 In view of these concerns, I urge the Government to clarify: 1. The terms and conditions of India’s participation in Pax Silica. 2. The safeguards in place to ensure the protection and sovereignty of Indian citizens’ data. 3. Whether this arrangement affects India’s independent policymaking in critical technology sectors. 4. The Government should place all relevant facts before the House with full transparency. 👉 Rahul Gandhi ji has rightly compared the value of data, the backbone of the 21st-century AI era, to crude oil. By signing Pax Silica unconditionally, is this a step towards digital colonialism? : Digvijaya Singh ji in Rajya Sabha

The Digital ID Will Change the Lives of Every Australian - For the Worse ... As much as the Government attempts to downplay the importance of introducing a single central digital identifier for all Australians, the truth is that this legislation is the most significant I've encountered during my time in the Senate. It's the glue that holds together the digital control agenda by which every Australian will be controlled, corralled, exploited and then gagged when they speak or act in opposition. The government knows Digital ID will be compulsory by the device of preventing access to government services, banking services, air travel and major purchases for any Australian who does not have a Digital ID. The Digital ID will, in effect, create a live data file of your movements, purchases, accounts and associates containing reference to every piece of data being held in the private and government sector as a first step in a wider agenda. Tech giants have been building huge data files on every Australian for years. Those huge data files that contain every website you visited, every post you made on their social media, everything you have ever bought online. Keywords scanned from conversations overheard by Siri and Alexa in your home are now unmasked. Until now, that data was anonymised using a unique identifier rather than name and address, which has always been there as well. However, tech companies were not allowed to use it or share data with others that included the person's name and address. Until Now. Look for the tech giants to ask for your Digital ID as a requirement of using their service. The point of that exercise is to ensure they put the right name on the right data treasure trove. This is why the Liberal Party have moved amendments to the Digital ID Bill to bring private corporations into this roll out earlier. All those treasure troves of data worth billions, trillions, that have been accumulated for years illegally, by retailers, tech and data companies - all that unrealised profit just sitting there has been too much of a temptation for the Liberal Nationals to resist and is now joined with Labor in pushing Digital ID. There will be no escape from the digital ID. Australians now have a digital version of "papers please" and Australians will never be the same.

The BJP withdrew its support to the VP Singh government on the Mandal Commission in August 1991, and they started the Kamandal agitation to counter the Mandal agitation. Let's not get into this history. I can also go into the history of how the RSS opposed the Constitution of India beginning in November 1949; how Yogi Adityanath has opposed reservations; and how RSS leaders, including Mohan Bhagwat, have opposed reservations. So let's keep history aside. According to the Constitution of India, the Seventh Schedule, the census is the responsibility of the central government. If the centre does not want to carry out the census, there is no alternative left for states except to do caste surveys. Thus, various states have done caste surveys, including Telangana, Karnataka and Bihar. The Prime Minister has consistently opposed the caste census. On 28 April 2024, he called all those wanting a caste census "urban naxals". He even called the Congress party the same. They filed an affidavit in the Supreme Court on 21 September 2021, saying that they were against a caste census and had no intention of carrying out one. Today's gazette notification says only the census will be done in late October of 2026 in Jammu and Kashmir, Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh, and for the rest of the country, it will be done in March 2027. It does not talk of the word "caste census". So my question is: has the Prime Minister changed his mind again? Why is there no mention of the caste census? Secondly, the budget allocation needed would be ₹9,000 - ₹10,000 crores to carry out a normal census—not the caste census. The total allocation for the census commission this year is only ₹575 crores. So, where is the additional money? When are the allocations going to be made? The Indian National Congress wants the Telangana model to be adopted at the national level. In Telangana, it's not just the caste enumeration that's been done—it also includes getting information on the socio-economic status. All this is missing in this notification by the government. To all those who are saying that Congress has a lot to answer for, the First Amendment to the Constitution in 1951 introduced Article 15(4), which protected reservations for SCs and STs. This amendment was then opposed by Syama Prasad Mukherjee ji, the founder of the Jana Sangh. : Congress General Secretary (Communications) Shri Jairam Ramesh

#JASMY defines the core of #Japan’s Web3 era. 🌐 For the Land of the Rising Sun, Web 3.0 is not merely a technical evolution of the existing Internet, but a profound structural shift in the way value, trust, and data are organized within the digital space. As conceptualized by Japan’s Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry, Web 3.0 must be built on a decentralized architecture in which individuals are no longer passive users of digital services, but autonomous actors capable of owning, controlling, and directly leveraging their data, digital identities, and assets. This vision stands in clear contrast to the Web 2.0 model, where information and value are concentrated within large platforms that capture the majority of the data and revenues generated by online interactions. Within this new paradigm, blockchain plays a fundamental role as a trust infrastructure. Through distributed ledgers and cryptographic mechanisms, it becomes possible to establish direct relationships between individuals, organizations, and services without relying on a central authority to validate exchanges. Mutual authentication, data integrity, and traceability are natively ensured by the protocol itself, while significantly reducing management and intermediation costs. Web 3.0 is thus expected to guarantee the uniqueness and authenticity of exchanged information, while offering strong resistance to data falsification or manipulation. A central pillar of this Japanese vision lies in the redefinition of data ownership. METI emphasizes that one of the major imbalances of today’s Internet stems from the excessive concentration of personal and industrial data in the hands of large digital platforms. Web 3.0, by contrast, aims to return ownership to individuals and data producers themselves, enabling them to freely determine the conditions under which their data may be used, shared, or monetized. This approach is part of a broader effort to rebalance digital power and restore trust in the digital economy, fully aligned with Japan’s principles of data circulation based on trust, notably the concept of Data Free Flow with Trust. The Japanese government also views Web 3.0 as a foundational layer for the emergence of new forms of digital economy. Tokenization whether through cryptocurrencies, utility tokens, governance tokens, or NFTs, makes it possible to represent and exchange value in a programmable and transparent manner. This gives rise to economic models in which users become direct stakeholders in the ecosystems they participate in, spanning content creation, decentralized communities, and innovative digital services. From this perspective, Web 3.0 is seen as a catalyst for industrial innovation and international competitiveness for Japan, particularly in areas such as the metaverse, the creator economy, and next-generation digital infrastructures. Finally, Japan’s vision of Web 3.0 extends far beyond financial or purely technological considerations. It is embedded in a broader societal strategy aimed at building a more equitable, resilient digital economy that is better aligned with human values. By restoring individual control over data and fostering digital interactions based on trust rather than centralization, Web 3.0 is envisioned as one of the pillars of a digital society capable of sustaining innovation while respecting the sovereignty of individuals, communities, and nations.
