Here's why you can blame the government for your high interest rates. They're running deficits at war and recession levels, even with unemployment low. All that government borrowing puts upward pressure on interest rates, making loans more expensive for the rest of us.

American has $197,000 in student loans The interest rate is 5.12%, which means she is accruing about $10,086 of interest every single year on her student loans That’s $840 a month just in interest just to break even without paying anything on the loan “It feels so crushing” Student loans in America are predatory. Americans cannot pay these back and they’ll be trapped in debt forever

I have a plan that will lock home loans in at 3% interest for first-time homebuyers, lowering your mortgage payments by $1,000 a month—and it won’t cost the government a cent. Check it out. #rfkjr

A report on the interest paid on student loans. As Sophy Ridge says, its staggering. To people who say we can't afford to scrap student loans or write off the debt (we can), why can't the loans be made interest free?

American medical student just did “horrifying math” on her student loans - Her amount due is $396,945.67 - Annual interest rate: 5.875% - Monthly interest accrual: $1,943.38 Her monthly resident paycheck is $4,054.98 HALF her income goes to just interest… She says if she pays nothing toward interest, the loan would grow to roughly $600,000 by the time she finishes residency Interest rates on student loans are predatory and should be illegal. This is usury
