Thrust on the Commodore 64 (Firebird, 1986) is still one of those games that punish you beautifully. I love it! At first glance, you realize this is a game of physics, inertia-based physics, and fuel management. I wish I did better at school LOL! Luckily, it's also a game of common sense too, phew! Towing the precious Klystron pod while desperately trying not to smash into cavern walls all the while avoiding turret gunfire, this was the ultimate stress back in the day, and we loved it. And Rob Hubbard's title music? As always, Rob delivers; that's why he's my favorite Commodore 64 SID musician. 5 Facts you didn't want to know about Alien Breed for the Commodore Amiga Alien Breed (1991) is a landmark Amiga title that defined Team17’s early style: tense, atmospheric, and brutally addictive. It was perfect for co-op gaming with mates. Programmed by Andreas Tadic and Peter Tuleby, with graphics by Rico Holmes and iconic music by Allister Brimble. 1. Top-down run-and-gun sci-fi shooter heavily inspired by Aliens: You (and a friend in co-op) explore an infested space station, blasting xenomorph-like aliens (I originally thought they were aliens) while managing limited ammo and health. It mixes fast arcade action with tense resource management. 2. Team17’s breakthrough hit: This was only their second game, after Full Contact, and their first full-price release. It put the UK developer and publisher on the map, before they became famous for the Worms series. 3. Extremely well-received on Amiga: Launched to critical acclaim, with many magazines scoring it 85–91% (CVG 91%, Zero 91%, CU Amiga 90%, Amiga Action 87%). It was usually praised for its smooth multi-directional scrolling, atmosphere, co-op play, and technical excellence on the Amiga. 4. Infamously difficult: The original game was notoriously tough and short, with only six levels. Halo: Campaign Evolved has quickly become one of my most anticipated games of the summer after its incredible new trailer We got a whole load of new information on the game as well, here are the highlights: - Previews in general are glowing, critics are widely praising the visuals, new mission designs and gameplay options - The entire game is playable in third person - Reload speeds are faster than the original - In general, rooms are bigger to accomodate for 4-player coop (original campaign was 2 players only) - There are environmental additions that point you to the right direction line markers on the foor similar to CE Anniversary - Health packs are gone, both health and shield regenerate - There is fall damage - Sprint is here but can be turned off, Aiming down sight is also here and is also toggleable - Energy Sword is now useable - Wraiths are now driveable and hijacking is in the game - Sound Design is faithful to the original with the classic barks of Elites and Grunts all returning -Goal is to make this a “modern entry point to the Halo franchise for new fans” - It will be PS5 Pro Enhanced Overall, I went from being “Eh.” to really looking forward to playing this next month. I adore Halo CE classic and nothing can replace that but this looks like its doing everything right to stand out while still staying faithful to the original, I think it will be a great time.

I’ve built an order execution tool specifically for IB users. The open-source code is available on GitHub, but since most traders probably prefer something simple and ready to use, I also made an executable (.exe) version and uploaded it to Google Drive. This order execution tool can automatically retrieve your account balance and calculate position size based on your specified risk %. You can choose to set the stop loss at the LOD (low of the day) or enter it manually. The tool automatically places stop orders according to your stop level, one stop or 3 stops Why three stop orders? You can refer to Jeff Sun, CFTe Jeff Sun’s article for the reasoning behind this risk management approach. It also comes with customizable hotkeys for quick and efficient order placement. [New Xbox Controller Review] #ad Special thanks to Qrdgame_offcial for supplying me with a review unit of their Ferrox M5 Xbox & PC Controller QRD Ferrox M5 The QRD Ferrox M5 is a Wireless Xbox One–style gamepad with a transparent design. Since it targets Xbox One natively, it works automatically on PC and Xbox Series S/X. The included 2.4Ghz USB Dongle also supports Switch and Android with the right adapter (USB C), but I was not able to test those in time for this review. A Wireless Xbox Controller The QRD FERROX M5 comes in a familiar Xbox layout with Hall Effect joysticks, RGB rings around the sticks, and a magnetic & detachable clear shell that shows the internals. The controller feels very similar to a standard Xbox pad in terms of shape and size, but it’s slightly lighter at compared to the usual Xbox controller weight. The lighter weight makes it easier to hold for longer sessions without hand fatigue. The D-Pad is surprisingly good at dialing special moves feels as solid and responsive as the official Xbox controller, and that’s impressive at a lower price point. I spent a few days trying out the Mortal Kombat Legacy Kollection exclusively using this controller and I did not notice any difference at all. Capabilities From what I’ve tested, the controller performs extremely well for action games, fighting games, and shooters. The Hall Effect joysticks offer smooth movement and precise control with no drift issues. The D-Pad uses micro switches, so every input is tactile and accurate. The back triggers support an adaptive “trigger stop” mode, which shortens the travel distance for faster reaction time in FPS games or quicker blocks in Fighting Games. You also get 4 back macro buttons, turbo mode, and adjustable joystick sensitivity with deadzone options. Vibration strength and RGB lighting modes are also customizable. What can it do The FERROX M5 includes an 800mAh battery that lasts around 8 hours of gameplay. It only uses the 2.4Ghz wireless connection, not Bluetooth, so it always requires the included USB Dongle. The good thing is once you sync it with your Xbox or PC, you don’t need to sync it again—it carries over between both devices automatically. The 2.4G connection is stable and low latency, and the controller has a 3.5mm headphone jack for audio and mic support. It also features a quick calibration system to keep sticks and triggers accurate over time. The overall grip and shape feel close to the official Xbox controller, comfortable for long gaming sessions, and the transparent shell gives it a distinct look. Areas of improvement I initially had trouble charging the controller while playing because connecting it to the Xbox via USB would disable all inputs, making it unusable in wired mode. But luckily QRD Support helped and provided me with an updat - I had to connect it to a PC, download the firmware tool from QRD’s website, and update the controller manually. After installing the new firmware, the controller can now charge while being used normally on Xbox, so the issue is fully resolved. The Xbox button also behaves differently on Xbox, where the single press acts like hold and the hold acts like single press; this issue doesn’t appear on PC. Syncing with the dongle took a few attempts on both Xbox and PC, but once paired, it never needed syncing again. The wireless mode is strictly 2.4G with no Bluetooth support, so it cannot connect without the dongle, though the benefit is that one pairing works across both Xbox and PC. I love the Arcade1Up Official cabinets that Trista has given me the last couple years. Yes, you can run free emulators on almost any device, but having the games running in a cabinet with arcade controls is a much better experience, even though it is just a packaged emulator. I was pretty decent back in the day, but after playing these for a while, I got farther than young-John ever did. Recently I played an original Joust machine at Cidercade and on my second game, I blew away my previous best score at home — 158k! The subtle control latency of the emulated experience versus the real thing matters! I measured the press-to-flap latency at home, and it looks like about 80ms. It isn’t blatantly obvious, but it shows up in the game feel and control error rate. I know there is a hard core community around emulator optimization, and with high refresh rate monitors it is possible to get objectively lower latency than the original CRT based hardware, but there is no reason the popular consumer versions can’t get most of the way there. This is probably just a matter of backing up a triple buffered swap chain or extra layers of image scaling / UI compositor getting in the way. Phase sync to the last quarter or so of the video interval and swap to the actual display should cut that latency in half. Doing the bit plane graphics and scaling directly to /dev/fb0 with software would be a guaranteed low latency path if you can get vsync timing. Trivia: The real Joust, and all the classic Williams games, didn’t even page flip, they just drew straight to the frame buffer, paying attention to the scan time.
