🚨#BREAKING: Officials have permanently shut down the $2.2 billion Ivanpah Solar Power Facility in California’s Mojave Desert, admitting the project never lived up to its promises. Once hailed as a breakthrough in renewable energy, the plant also drew criticism for killing an estimated 6,000 birds each year.

🚨 CHINA IS RACING TO BUILD A SPACE SOLAR POWER PLANT THAT COULD BEAM ELECTRICITY FROM ORBIT TO EARTH. Scientists at Xidian University have successfully tested a ground-based system that can wirelessly transmit kilowatt-level power over 100 meters using microwaves. Their ultimate goal is far more ambitious: placing large solar power stations in geostationary orbit (36,000 km up), where sunlight is available 24/7 with no weather or atmosphere blocking it. The project, called Zhuri (“chasing the sun”), uses mirrors to concentrate sunlight onto solar panels, converts the electricity into microwaves, and beams it down to a receiving antenna (rectenna) on Earth. Why this matters: • In space, solar energy is up to 6 times more efficient than on Earth because there’s no night, clouds, or atmospheric filtering • A single large space solar station could theoretically generate gigawatts of continuous clean power enough for millions of homes • The team has already proven the system can beam power to multiple moving targets at once • China is now among the world leaders in this technology, alongside the US and Japan The deeper implication: Space-based solar power has been a dream for decades because it could provide truly baseload renewable energy. While the technical and financial challenges are enormous (building massive structures in orbit, precise microwave beaming, and safety), steady progress like this brings the concept closer to reality. If successful, it could fundamentally change how humanity generates and distributes energy moving power collection off the planet entirely. Near-term applications could include wirelessly charging satellites or powering future lunar bases. Do you think space-based solar power will become a major energy source in the coming decades, or will it stay too expensive and complex? Follow for more frontier energy and space technology developments.

Major milestone for #Telangana. The Government of Telangana has entered into an MoU with Sun Petrochemicals, a leading energy company to develop 3 Pumped Storage Hydro Power projects in Nagarkurnool, Mancherial, and Mulugu districts, totalling a massive 3,400 MW capacity. Alongside, integrated solar power plants (5,440 MW) will be developed, driving the state's green energy goals. The project comes with an estimated ₹45,500 crore investment, creating over 7,000 jobs during the construction phase. This is set to boost socio-economic growth, particularly in these regions. Hon’ble Chief Minister Shri Revanth Reddy garu welcomed the huge agreement, noting that Telangana’s investments soared at #Davos last year, the #TelanganaRising delegation had scored a great watermark agreement with this deal with #SunPetrochemicals. This deal continues that momentum in the renewable energy sector. “Telangana is broadening its investment base, creating massive job opportunities and transforming areas like Nagarkurnool, Mancherial, and Mulugu,” Chief Minister added. IT & Industries Minister Shri Minister Sridhar Babu garu highlighted the year-long efforts to secure this deal, noting it’s one of the largest investments since 2014. Shri Dilip Shanghvi, MD of Sun Pharma & Sun Petrochemicals, hailed Telangana as an "irresistible investment destination" under CM Shri Revanth Reddy's leadership, with green energy as a game-changer for the state's economy. 🚨NEWS: TRUMP CAMP SOFTENS ON SOLAR POWER – SHIFT DRIVEN BY ENERGY SECURITY & MUSK’S INFLUENCE 🇺🇸 $TSLA ✅ Recent Pro-Solar Signals from Trump-Aligned Figures • Katie Miller (“MAGA Mom” podcaster): Posted on X that “solar is the energy of the future” and “solar is more important to America than coal” • U.S. Energy Secretary Chris Wright: Recently acknowledged solar’s commercial role in adding affordable, reliable energy to the grid • Nevada Republican Governor Joe Lombardo: Revived three blocked solar projects (Libra Solar, Dry Lake East, Boulder Solar III) that the Trump administration had previously halted • President Trump: Shared a podcast clip on Truth Social in January stating solar reduces electricity bills for Americans ✅ Broader Context & Contrast • Last year, Trump called renewable energy a “green scam” • Current shift is not driven by climate change or environmental concerns • Primary motivations: U.S. energy security, grid reliability, and reducing electricity costs • Solar is now viewed as a practical part of the energy mix – especially subsidy-free, price-competitive utility-scale solar ✅ Key Accelerators of the Change • Elon Musk’s announcement of massive U.S. solar manufacturing expansion (targeting 200 GW annual capacity – far exceeding current U.S. installation rate of 40–50 GW/year) • Musk’s close alignment with Trump circle (former DOGE co-lead) makes pro-solar stance easier for Trump allies to adopt • Ongoing U.S.-Iran conflict highlighting fossil fuel price volatility and energy supply risks ✅ Market & Policy Implications • Rising oil & gas prices from Middle East tensions increase attractiveness of renewables • Trump administration appears to be moving toward pragmatic energy policy that embraces solar for cost reduction and grid stability – especially as AI/data center power demand surges

At least 260 children have been killed by Israel's relentless attack on Gaza which continued overnight and through this morning. The death toll in the besieged enclave since the start of Israel's air strikes on Saturday has risen to 1,055 while 5,184 people have been injured and 260,000 displaced. Local authorities reported significant casualties when Israel targeted the home of an international law expert in Gaza City. The Israeli Air Force said they had hit 450 targets in the previous 24 hours. Since the surprise attacks by the Palestinian resistance on Saturday, Israel has imposed a complete blockade on Gaza, cutting off food, water and power. UNRWA said it only has two weeks supply of food and water for the 180,000 people who have sought refuge in their schools. Local officials in Gaza have also warned that a power plant is due to shut down in a matter of hours due to a lack of fuel as a result of the Israeli blockade. Despite the humanitarian disaster in Gaza, US President Joe Biden said on Tuesday "we stand with Israel." Biden also described the attacks by Palestinian resistance groups as "unadulterated evil". However, US officials said that Washington was working with other countries on a plan to offer safe passage out of Gaza for civilians. On Tuesday, EU foreign policy chief Josep Borrell told reporters that Israel's blockade of Gaza was illegal and that aid from Brussels would continue. Iranian officials have continue to deny their involvement in Saturday's attacks, while Egyptian intelligence officials have claimed they gave Israel prior warning of the attacks. On Tuesday Israel also attacked the Rafah crossing between Gaza and Egypt. The Israeli military has also confirmed that it attacked Lebanese territory following attacks on one of its military posts from Lebanon. 👉 For up-to-date coverage of developments from Palestine, follow us Hüseyin Dogru (Back-Up)
