BREAKING: Transgender student Nex Benedict died by suicide according to a medical examiner report not head trauma from the fight. 16-year-old Nex Benedict died days after a fight at Owasso High School in Oklahoma. Dagney was their deadname and is still being used in news reports. It’s a damn shame that this is not national news — but even the local news reports are very timid about the fact that this was a brutal beating. Instead, they call it a “school fight”. While incorrectly identifying them as “her”, they conspicuously leave out the fact that Nex was a 16-year-old ‘non-binary’ student. They also don’t mention Superintendent Ryan Walters put out a video in June 2023 calling transgender students “dangerous”, and that they “constitute an attack of truth that jeopardizes the safety of girls.” In January 2024 Walters pushed an emergency rule to prevent students from changing their gender on school files. Ryan Walter’s has put a target on trans and non-binary students backs. The very students he should be protecting as superintendent.
