🚨Is the Loudoun County Board of Supervisors about to DEFUND school resource officers to fund more DEI? At a March 2nd meeting, Supervisor Juli Briskman told the county’s DEI department that she hopes the board will not fund a large resource request (elementary SROs), and if that happens, other budget requests like more DEI positions could be funded. The County Administrator already included funding in the proposed budget to fund school resource officers in elementary schools, something Briskman opposes as do most Democrats on the school board like April Chandler and Anne Donohue. On Thursday at 5:15 pm, the Loudoun County School Board is holding a special meeting and is expected to vote on the Sheriff’s proposal to add school resource officers in all elementary schools. Right now, the Democrat majority on the school board is expected to formally oppose the SRO proposal. We’ll keep you updated. Some believe this is being done now so Democrats on the Loudoun County Board of Supervisors, like Briskman, can make the argument to take the SRO funding out of the county’s proposed budget. “Why fund elementary school SROs if the school board doesn’t want them?” Right now, there are school resource officers in all middle and high schools in Loudoun County. The Sheriff says the county needs school resource officers in elementary schools because of how many calls of service there are at elementary schools and he says SRO’s can protect the most vulnerable kids in the county when seconds count. Elementary school shootings have been on the rise over the past ten years. The sheriff’s office also tells me there are hundreds of instances where SROs have had to leave middle schools to respond to threats at elementary schools each year. The sheriff’s office was told by the school admin last year that if they want school resource officers in elementary schools, they should get the funding first, and then LCPS will talk. But now it appears the school board is moving the goal posts. The sheriff’s office was able to get the funding, but now there’s an effort underway by Briskman and some school board members to pull the funding and prevent school resource officers in elementary schools.

Last night the Oakland County Board of Commissioners approved a contract with Flock Safety for drones to respond to police service calls. There was immense public backlash over this decision, but before the board could hear the public’s grievances, they removed the first public comment period. This only left one public comment at the end AFTER votes had taken place. Commissioner Powell made the motion to remove the public comment and Chair Woodward refused to do a roll call vote to confirm there was a sufficient number of votes for this change. Originally the Flock contract was for a free trial period until December and the county would be charged 2.5 million for two years if they did not opt out. This item received less than three minutes of consideration in committee and the sheriff’s office assured commissioners that the public’s data would be protected. However, that was no where in Flock’s contract. Commissioner Bob Hoffman offered an amendment to the item to only allow for the trial period without an automatic renewal, ensuring the data is owned by Oakland County Sheriff and not Flock, and the drones can only be used for calls for service or officer generated. The amendment was approved and the pilot contract was approved. This resulted in outbursts throughout the meeting and eventually a 3.5 hour public comment period at the end. Residents often spoke of the invasion of privacy, concerns about hacking the Flock system, and fear of constant surveillance. The meeting started 45 minutes late and lasted to almost midnight.

SUSPECT 1: Jake Mitchell Haro, 32-years-old, Resident of Cabazon, CA SUSPECT 2: Rebecca Renee Haro, 41-years-old, Resident of Cabazon, CA VICTIM(S): Emmanuel Haro, seven-month-old Infant of Cabazon, CA This investigation began on August 14, 2025, as a reported kidnapping at the Big 5 in Yucaipa. The San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department immediately dedicated all available resources to locate seven-month-old Emmanuel Haro. During the investigation thus far, numerous interviews have been conducted, search warrants have been served, digital and electronic evidence has been collected and closely analyzed. Based on the evidence, investigators determined a kidnapping in Yucaipa did not occur. It is believed Emmauel is deceased and the search to recover his remains is ongoing. Arrest warrants were obtained from the Riverside County Superior Court and on August 22, 2025, detectives from the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Homicide Detail and Specialized Enforcement Division arrested Jake and Rebecca Haro at their residence in Cabazon, for PC 187 - Murder. Both suspects were booked in a Riverside County jail without bail. No other arrests have been made, and no suspects remain outstanding. While these arrests mark a significant development, our focus remains on finding Emmanuel. Sheriff Shannon Dicus stated, “The circumstances surrounding this investigation are tragic and we will continue to search for Emmanuel. The students were going door-to-door in Florida when a man approached them, pulled out a handgun, and said his gun was cocked and he was “always ready to shoot.” One of the students recorded the encounter. Newly released video shows Utah County sheriff’s deputies and Utah Highway Patrol troopers stopping a wrong-way driver on I-15 early last month. According to the original incident report, two deputies responded to an agency assist after reports of a vehicle traveling northbound in the southbound lanes of I-15 near mile marker 263. Deputies located the vehicle near mile marker 269. One deputy struck the driver’s side of the vehicle, spinning it into another deputy’s patrol car, which prevented the wrong-way vehicle from reentering traffic. Both deputies and both occupants of the vehicle were not injured. All three vehicles sustained damage. Utah Highway Patrol took over the crash investigation and investigated the driver for DUI. The Utah County Sheriff’s Office said the incident happened shortly after 4 a.m. on Jan. 24, calling wrong-way driving a recurring and dangerous problem on Utah roadways. The sheriff’s office praised the deputies for putting themselves in harm’s way and said it is grateful no one was hurt. UHP continues to handle the crash and DUI investigation.

More importantly, 2 victims of Human Trafficking were rescued, 2 illegal firearms were recovered, and 2 new Human Trafficking Cases were opened. This operation was part of our ongoing efforts to combat human trafficking and reduce the demand for illegal sex work in our community. Human trafficking remains a serious issue that preys on the most vulnerable, and we remain committed in the fight against it. REPEAT OFFENDER ARRESTED Less than 24 hours after being released from jail on his own recognizance for the EXACT SAME CHARGES, 19-year-old Andre Wiley was arrested again. Last week, Wiley, 18-year-old Andrew Ivy, and 18-year-old Kameryus Mayhand arrived together at a local jewelry store. Ivy and Mayhand distracted employees by looking at jewelry. Wiley sat at a consultation desk and stole two pieces of jewelry before leaving the store. Ivy and Mayhand fled with him immediately. A short time later, the Rancho Cordova Police Department Crime Suppression Unit located the suspects in their vehicle, resulting in their arrest and the recovery of items. That is when deputies learned Wiley had been released from the Placer County Jail less than 24 hours earlier and was on pretrial probation for burglary, conspiracy, and grand theft charges. All three suspects were booked into the Sacramento County Main Jail on charges of burglary, conspiracy, and grand theft. The Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office is releasing the suspects’ booking photos because detectives believe they may be responsible for additional thefts. Heartbreaking news out of Orange County, Virginia. K9 Blek, a loyal partner with the Sheriff's Office, passed away while on duty this week. After eight solid years serving alongside Sgt. Justin Neal, he gave everything right up to the end from natural causes. These dogs aren't just tools. They are true teammates who run toward danger without hesitation, protecting officers and the community day after day. Blek did that with honor and heart for nearly a decade. The department put out a moving final call for him. It hits hard. Rest easy, Blek. You served well, and the watch continues without you. Thank you for your service, and deepest condolences to Sgt. Neal and the whole Orange County Sheriff's Office. Our K9s deserve every bit of respect we can give them. They earn it every single shift.
