This would be so much more heartwarming if it was for ALL T1, not just some. A great effort so far, but can it really be classed as a T1 cure if not all T1s can be cured?

Could targeting insulin-degrading enzyme (IDE) hold the key to preventing Type 1 diabetes? A recent study shows that IDE deficiency in mice reduces autoreactive immune cells and insulin-specific immune responses, protecting pancreatic cells from autoimmune destruction and lowering Type 1 diabetes risk. Could IDE be a potential target for autoimmune diabetes therapies?

While it gives a lot of optimism I'm also wondering what impact it will have in terms of side effects that may trigger new autoimmune conditions, affect organs like the kidney, liver and heart, or produce conditions like cancer or bone affliction later Is there any literature ?

Today, more than 170 delegates from all 50 states and five countries were in Washington for the 2025 Breakthrough Type 1 Diabetes Children’s Congress. I was proud to chair a Senate Appropriations Committee hearing to welcome the delegates and focus on the importance of federal investment in Type 1 diabetes research. Senator Jeanne Shaheen and I — the founding co-chairs of the bipartisan Senate Diabetes Caucus — introduced legislation this week to reauthorize the Special Diabetes Program, a federal initiative that provides $160 million annually for Type 1 diabetes research and prevention. Thanks to this program and the tireless advocacy of Breakthrough T1D and its Children’s Congress Delegates, we are seeing life changing breakthroughs in the fight against this terrible disease. Some of these developments include the now widely used continuous glucose monitors, the first FDA-approved artificial pancreas, and a groundbreaking clinical trial in which 10 of the 12 participants no longer need insulin to manage their diabetes because of a stem cell-based therapy. Since the founding of the Senate Diabetes Caucus in 1997, federal funding for diabetes research has increased from $319 million to more than $2.3 billion annually. I want to thank our outstanding witnesses for today’s hearing: Ruby Whitmore of Old Town, Maine, Rachel White of North Hampton, New Hampshire, Katie Bone of Bernalillo, New Mexico, and Dr. Griffin Rodgers, Director of the National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases (NIDDK). Their passionate testimony highlighted both the daily realities of living with type 1 diabetes and the vital role of continued federal research through agencies like the NIDDK. Finding a cure for Type 1 diabetes remains our ultimate goal and has been one of my highest priorities since the very beginning of my Senate service. With continued advocacy, bipartisan support, and strong federal investment, I am confident that day will come.

We are thrilled to share positive topline data from our ELEVATE IPF Phase 2b trial evaluating deupirfenidone (LYT-100) for the treatment of idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (#IPF), a progressive and fatal lung disease. Our trial met the primary and key secondary endpoints, with deupirfenidone demonstrating the potential to serve as a new standard of care. Over 26 weeks, the highest dose of deupirfenidone studied was generally well-tolerated and reduced lung function decline to levels that approach natural lung function decline in healthy adults over sixty—a first for any investigational or approved treatment for IPF. We’re incredibly excited for what deupirfenidone could offer the IPF community, which urgently needs new treatment options with better efficacy that don’t compromise on tolerability. We are in trouble. We are surrounded by people who seek to curb our free speech and our right to assemble and they have weaponised antisemitism to do it. The problem is, our top cop, Prime Minister and an assortment of compromised politicians, media outlets and bought 'patriots' all support it. Even typing this could find the police at my door for the second time in a week. They are dangerously over-zealous in their obedience to Israel and our citizens are paying the price. It is not antisemitic to say Israel is 'running the UK'. It is anti-Zionism and that is protected in UK law. Don't conflate the two, that's antisemitic. British people are not a priority in our own country. Our politicians, police and media are compromised. These people are Israel First and they are harming us.

We are not simply carrying out internal reforms, nor are we simply going through a transformation. We are fighting for our state, for our independence, and for our right to choose our own path and to be Europe. And this right of ours is at the same time the right of every nation in our region. We are fighting for our freedom and theirs, for Europe for ourselves and for them – for the Baltic states and for Poland, for Hungary and Slovakia, for Romania and Moldova, and for the peoples of the Caucasus. That is why the fate of Europe is being decided here – it is being decided in Ukraine, in this war, and in how this war ends – and whether Russia will still have the strength and the desire after this war to threaten the existence of Ukraine and its other neighbors, and the entirety of Europe. That is why we must end this war with dignity and with guaranteed security. And this is what we will discuss with our partners during the G7 Summit in France, and later at the European Council Summit and at the NATO Summit in Ankara.

I pretty quickly understood this is different. These are the people who unite - the ones who are for freedom and liberty. I really to emphasise and outline that in a positive sense it is possible, it is necessary as you have said to unite, to align, and to go in one direct altogether, for the sake of the people of course, not for the sake of this ideology or that ideology or for a political idea, but for liberty and freedom civilisation and dignity itself. This is why I’m honoured that we can hold this conference together with you and I thank you for that.” We are indeed proud to not be associated with any political group or ideology, and are continuing to work towards uniting all opposition groups in order to overthrow the regime of the Islamic Republic, and give the Iranian people their country and national sovereignty.

Laura Loomer is in Ukraine these days. She is very close to President Trump. We spoke, and Laura saw a lot in Ukraine, in the capital and beyond – the Lavra, our people, and everything we are going through.
