Can you name a more unique guitar player than him?

Allan Holdsworth. Look, Knoplfer is fucking AWESOME but his style is very Chet Atkins ... its not THAT unique. Holdsworth was Unique.

Nice points to mention

Unique? Jeff Beck.

He was incredibly talented, arguably the most melodic player ever. What a musician.

Unique technique that he developed too. Always seemed to be reinventing himself.

@rocknrollofall Agree. But he was majorly influenced by Roy Buchanan in that regard, by his own admission.

@rocknrollofall Really? I’d never heard or read that. Makes sense though, the timing was right for that. Love listening to Roy Buchanan, that clean, raw Tele tone 👍🏼 That Livestock album he did is outstanding.

@rocknrollofall For sure. In fact, in the song listing on Blow By Blow, ’Cause We’ve Ended as Lovers is followed by this parenthetical: “(dedicated to Roy Buchanan and thanks to Stevie).”

You’re right! Totally forgot about that. Got hooked on Jeff Beck when he released his Wired album. I’d heard of Blow by Blow so of course I went out and bought that album too. I knew who Roy Buchanan but it would be many years before I’d learn that he was thanking Stevie Wonder for the composition. I’ve gotta pull that album up and revisit the liner notes there. It’s been decades. Awesome 👏🏼 Thanks Paul 🙏🏼

Lindsey Buckingham!!!

He's great but I have to disagree

Mark Knopfler tracked the Sultans of Swing solo using only his bare fingers because he couldn't afford an amp and needed the guitar to sound louder. 🤔 Fun fact: Live, Mark stretches the final solo to 3 minutes using a "snapping" technique he developed as a kid to avoid breaking strings. Did you know? 🤯

Yes, Jeff Healey

He's a brilliant player

He’s great and under appreciated. But as for unique let’s go with Allan Holdsworth.

Mine will always be Hendrix

No histrionics, no pulling faces, just a guy with complete mastery over his guitar.

More unique no, equally? Robbie Krieger

That's a good one

Carlos Santana

Fripp

Pat Metheny is even more unique.

Mark Knopfler

Robby Krieger. Not sure there's ever been anyone who sounds similar. Knopfler is incredible and has an unmistakable sound/style, but I sense a lot of Beck influence there.

All of the greatest guitar players have a signature sound. No matter the song, even if it is completely different than any other they did, you just know it is them without even being told. Mark Knopfler is one of the greats.

Jeff Healey

Glen Campbell

SRV Hendrix

Jeff Healey was the most Unique Player ever.

Paco de Lucia

Django Reinhardt. Fini!

Prince

Unique means one of a kind. So something simply cannot be “more” unique.

Derek Trucks?

Gary Moore, Alvin Lee, Terry Kath

Easy. The Guv’ner

Jesse Cook

Think Slow-hand ... Eric Clapton is up there

Joe Walsh

David gilmour

Absolutely: Steve Vai, Nuno Bettencourt, Joe Satriani, Ritchie Blackmore.. should I go on?

Jeff Beck

Tom Verlaine

Buckethead, but as musician Mark is unique!

I think he’s one of the best guitar players and songwriters ever. Just such a unique combo.
