Can’t be afraid to coach kids. Many high schools and AAU programs don’t have real coaches.

Two of my biggest concerns for youth/HS 🏀 are 1) decreasing #s of qualified referees and 2) qualified coaches. Many are retiring or stepping away. The "brain drain" is real!

There's too many hands involved. HS coach, aau coach and skills trainer all have an agenda and a job to do and they don't complement each other enough.

👌🏻 #Benavides #LeoSantaCruz #Box

Coach them hard and some kids wanna jump ship and go somewhere else. The one common theme for the GREAT players is they CRAVE being coached hard...

This is an accurate assessment on the state of basketball in the US. One group undermines the other, no one is pulling in the same direction.

AAU is good for only about 20 percent of kids still in 12th grade and below. Most kids should be focusing on skills development and getting bigger and stronger not playing with an awful coached team and the refs for aau even worse. AAU is all money now

Big facts

Add “some” Trainers/Scouts to this and it sums up our game here in the U.S. Pro Skill Development in grassroots is great BUT if it doesn’t translate to College that kid isn’t getting recruited and if they do, there’s a good chance they headed to the Transfer Portal in Year 1

His source is 100% correct. I believe it is a societal issue, which is scary. Sadly, I don't see it being fixed/changed anytime soon.

All facts! Dealing with that now with my daughter!
