Cartersville Spring Practice Observations Observation 1: I’m going to call Kaiden Kent an ATH because I think he does both extremely well playing CB/WR. You can make the argument he’s just as good as a wide receiver. The 2028 CB looked explosive in practice and made routine catches. High...

💎#RaiderNation Malik Benson didn’t fall because of character issues or due to any injury red flags 🚩. He fell to the Raiders at No. 195 in Round 6 mainly because teams viewed him as a talented but somewhat one dimensional & developmental type of WR. THE BIGGEST REASONS 📋: ♦️Route running: Probably the main issue. Specifically noted that his route running lacked refinement & that he needed more variety in his releases. He also shown to give away routes with his body positioning. ♦️Late FBS breakout: He was the No. 1 JUCO prospect and absolutely produced there, but after transferring, he never really exploded at Alabama or Florida State. His best FBS season finally came at Oregon in 2025: 43 catches, 719 yards and 7 TDs. Teams generally want more sustained production from an older WR prospect. ♦️Limited YAC creativity: He has the speed to outrun angles, but he isn’t considered a particularly elusive, make defenders miss type receiver. ♦️Projection as a specialist: At 6’0”, 189 lbs with 4.37 speed, his obvious NFL weapon is stretching the field. The question was whether he could become a complete WR rather than primarily a vertical threat/clear-out receiver. 💫It’s for these reasons why I think the Raiders may potentially have gotten a steal. The stuff that caused Benson to fall is largely developable. You can’t teach 4.37 speed, and he already showed good ball tracking, reliable hands and the toughness to work over the middle. Now he’s apparently showing out in training camp & pushing for a legitimate offensive role, which makes the No. 195 selection look even more interesting. If Benson develops his route tree, he has considerably more upside than your typical sixth-round WR. I think there’s a pretty interesting argument for why Benson could end up beating Jack Bech for WR3 snaps.
