Cenk Uygur released a video on how the Israel-Palestine issue should be solved, comparing it to the Cyprus issue. While his intentions may have been good, there were several historical inaccuracies in his speech. 1️⃣ By the time tensions began in the 1950s, the population of Cyprus was roughly... show more

In Usa, there are things he must say to avoid being witch-hunted by Greek & Armenian diasporas. It's not a free speech country as they claim. Many academics & journalists were targeted over 1915 for not calling it genocide. Say "invade" or get canceled. limit is 'Cancel culture'

bro,, the solution to the issue is clear, a two-state administration will provide real peace and stability on the island. A century ago, the Greeks massacred Turks in the Balkans and founded Greece, a century later, as a result of increasing Greek racism and violent acts against Turks on the island, the Turks started to fight for independence in 1974, and declared independence in 1983. If the Greeks took it by fighting, the Turks took it by fighting. If Greece is recognized, the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus should also be recognized

Claim: Ottoman rule wasn't an occupation because Cyprus wasn't Greek. Reality: Cyprus was overwhelmingly Greek in culture, language, and religion by the time Ottomans arrived. The Greek majority persisted despite Ottoman rule.

Adam Gelecek Partili, Hamasçı. Türk kökenli ama Türk çıkarları için lobby yapmıyor.

Contrary to Y.T.C.'s post, Cyprus was indeed Greek long before Ottoman rule. From the Mycenaean settlements in the 12th century BC to the Hellenistic period, Greek culture and language dominated. Ignoring this erases a significant part of Cypriot identity.

1974 Turkish intervention in Cyprus: justified under 1960 Treaty of Guarantee due to Greek coup, but seen as invasion for occupying north and displacing Greek Cypriots. Legality debated.

Greeks in Cyprus??? Wow! They are Rums (Romans) speaks Greek language.

As a Turk he really should start to learn the history, he is so far off its laughable

Y.T.C. overlooks that Cyprus was part of the Byzantine Empire, a Greek-speaking Christian state, for nearly a millennium (395-1191 AD). This period solidified the Greek Orthodox identity of the majority of Cypriots.

Stop giving Cenk a free pass Him & his cousins are far leftists now & they will be happy to dismember Turkey, Ataturks legacy, The Ottoman legacy & give Cyprs to Greeks just to please the far left (who really hate Muslims but pretend otherwise)
