"How Scaloni’s Relational Play Outplayed Algeria"🧠 Argentina create numerical superiority in central areas through compact positioning and close proximity between players. 2. Vertical connections & combination play They rely on quick central combinations to connect midfield and attack efficiently between the lines. 3. Striker positioning & line pinning The forwards occupy the space between centre-backs and full-backs, pinning the defensive line and pushing it deeper. 4. Midfield movements & manipulation

“The club want to BACK Amorim!” 👀🔴 United are ready to give Ruben Amorim time, sign wing-backs, strengthen the midfield, and fully back his system IF ... Is this finally a commitment to a clear long-term plan at United? 👇

Does Jeremy Jacquet actually get involved in the BUILD-UP? 🤔 ➡️ Not the first receiver from the goalkeeper ➡️ Pushes into midfield instead ➡️ Steps forward to intercept & kickstart attacks ➡️ Frees up wide centre-backs and wing-backs Full tactical scout report drops tomorrow. 💬 Comment Jeremy Jacquet for early access (link to your DMs) 👇 #chelsea #cfc #liverpoolfc #lfc

👀 RC Strasbourg's build-up play under Hugo Oliveira features split centre-backs, fullbacks hugging the touchline, and the goalkeeper acting as an active third centre-back. ✔️ vs. RC Lens: 2-1 win ✔️ vs. Troyes: 6-2 win This 2-3-5 structural shift creates a dominant central overload, provides immediate counter-press security, and allows the advanced No.8s (Reyna and Sousa) to push high into the frontline, as you can see in the video clip here. #BlueCo #RCSA

That midfield two is so easy to overload, the wide centre backs’ reluctance to step up allows forwards to drop into the pivot blindspots unopposed. It can also be so easily disorganised with fluidity, Ederson moves out of the block (creates space), Scalvini freedom to exploit.

Build up structures to play out in a 4-3-3 against different pressing patterns. The one-man (centre forward) press. Looking to fix an opponent with a centre back moving with ball

Gasperini is redefining positional football at Roma. A centre-back steps into midfield and stays there, while a midfielder drops into the backline to maintain balance. It creates overloads, disrupts opposition marking and gives Roma greater control in possession. Tactical innovation at its finest.

The whole passage of play leading to this goal was phenomenal. Patient, extremely short passes to draw the press, centre backs playing line breaking passes and clever bounce passes in pockets of space rather than taking on the half turn into trouble. Joy to watch👏🏼

Watch these 24/25 Barcelona counter-attacks again. Notice something. The structure is already there. The midfield progresses. Yamal manipulates the defence. The runners attack space. The missing piece is the No. 9. If Flick wants to build a truly fluid attack, the striker can’t just occupy centre-backs. He has to drop between the lines, combine with Yamal, pin defenders when needed, then still attack the box. That’s the profile that turns these transitions into something even more unpredictable. Think of Firmino’s role at Liverpool. Not because Barça want another Firmino, but because that’s the kind of connector a fluid front three needs.

🎥-🔴 Ruben Amorim on playing 3 at the back 🗣️ “I play with 3, one of them is Luke Shaw. Sometimes we have [Mazraoui] and Luke Shaw, so we play with 1 centre-back. We have some results of not [allowing] a lot of teams, in some games, to get in the final third, but we are being really soft near the box”
