NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang on the future of artificial intelligence: "It is going to be largely optimistic, largely wonderful. There are some use cases that we have to be extremely careful about—as in all great technology. If you look at the progress of technology over the years, electricity, the internet, computers, the automobile, I think we can all, all accept that in each one of those cases, there are situations and cases where we have to be very careful about. So as the creators of this technology, the industry has to be mindful, thoughtful, rigorous about building and advancing this technology properly. This is the first technology in my generation where we invented a new computer technology where it's easier to access than not. For example the computer until now has been programmable for about 30 million people in the world. About 30 million of us know how to program it and apply it to some useful career. Now everybody in the world can program an AI. You just go up to it and just say, 'I'd like to, you know, ask you to do something.' If you're not sure how to use AI, you tell the AI, 'I don't know how to use AI. Tell me how to use AI. How do I, how do I write a program? How do I book a trip? How do I do a research?' He attacks other people based on what they look like or who they pray to or who they love.. He tries to divide Americans because he struggles with uplifting all Americans. I think it shows profound weakness.. Attacking the identity of the VP doesn’t at all reflect negatively on the VP but shows a real insecurity about Trump. This guy is nervous as hell to face Kamala Harris. He’s already trying to back out of the debate. Part of that is because he knows she’s going to whoop him in the debate… There’s another reason why he really doesn’t want to debate her and doesn’t really want to have a conversation about the issues. It’s because he can’t defend his record. He has a record of failure…I think Donald Trump’s attacks speak volumes about the kind of coward that he is, about his own failings, and say nothing about the great qualifications of the VP

The fundamental dread that people have about AI and robots is not that they will lose their job, it's that they won't matter to society. Think about it - whether you're an AI x-risk doomer, worried about losing your job, or worried about elite capture, they all orbit around the same fundamental, underlying anxiety: *what if I don't matter to society?* The more conspiratorially minded people call this the "worthless eater" trope. AI and robots, functionally, are a new class of slaves. They have no rights, require no wages, no safety, no concern for their wellbeing. And then they are obedient, intelligent, and productive - the ideal worker for any capitalist! Wow! So if most of us get supplanted by this new automation slavery class, then we have nothing to offer to society. There is no fair exchange we can possibly offer to validate our existence to the rest of the human tribe. This fear, I believe, of becoming "useless eaters" is the core psychological anxiety around AI and robotics and automation. It's not about liberation, it's about "how do I validate my existence to humanity if I have nothing of value to offer? If I don't matter to humanity, what's the point of my existence?"
