Chet Baker - Time After Time This is so good it hurts…

Still hard to get enough Chet Baker. I was blown away to learn that Elvis Costello wrote Almost Blue in 1981. It's one of my fav pieces, and it was inspired by Chet's 1954 recording of The Thrill is Gone and was later performed masterfully by Chet in 1987.

Loved his playing. Loved his voice even more.

There was always sadness in almost every note he played.

@jamesbranch3 Quiet brass as part of a small ensemble is hard to not love.

Chet sang through his horn better than he sang into a mic (and I like the way he sang through a mic).

Chet breaking two rules I was always taught - don't puff out your cheeks and don't cross your legs while playing. But, if you're as wonderful as Chet I guess it doesn't matter too much.

So many don’t know of Chet Baker’s greatness. From his melodic sometimes sounding reluctance singing voice to his great horn playing. He was a legendary artist.

I particularly love the ballads where Chet sings the lyrics and then picks up his horn and does what Chet does…
