An identical vehicle was put up for sale in September at the American Mecum auction and was successfully sold. If it’s the same car, it features a powertrain from a 1989 Chevrolet Corvette — a 5.7-liter V8 engine paired with an automatic transmission. The auction listing also noted that the “Batmobile” is equipped with retractable machine guns designed to fire blank rounds.

In 1988, it reached a verified top speed of 254.76 mph at the Transportation Research Center in Ohio, making it the fastest street legal car in the world at the time. Powered by a twin turbo 5.7L V8 producing nearly 900 hp, it beat the world speed record, then simply drove home under its own power instead of being loaded onto a trailer. This is what happens when you put a 900HP Corvette engine in a ’67 Nova. This Nova is running a supercharged 6.2L LS9 from a C6 ZR1, built up to around 900 hp, and it’s still paired with a 6 speed manual. And judging by the video, it has absolutely no problem turning the rear tires into smoke. 😂

Only in Florida can you get hit by a sports car in the middle of the ocean. This thing is built to trick your brain. But make no mistake. It is a registered vessel, not a land vehicle. It is a boat that identifies as a Corvette. And unfortunately for the other captain, it hit like one too. This happened at the Merritt Island Christmas Boat Parade. The driver of the jet car was speeding in a manatee zone and slammed right into a fishing boat. He was cited for reckless operation.
