China is turning traditional massage into a robotics problem. This robotic arm scans the body, maps pressure points, and then uses computer vision, force sensors and AI-controlled movements to perform techniques inspired by Traditional Chinese Medicine. It can press, knead, rub and push with controlled force, while sensing resistance... show more

The ability to sense pressure and adapt in real time is the interesting part.

I don’t know, massage is one thing I wouldn’t hand over to a robot. MRI, tests, diagnostics, sure. But massage is too specific to the person: where it hurts, where it’s tight, when to push harder and when to back off. A pressure sensor isn’t enough.

Turning a massage into an AI showcase doesn’t automatically make it innovation. 🤖🇨🇳 If China wants to impress the world, it should focus on solving bigger problems not just replacing a massage therapist with a robot. 😏

China is pushing robotics into everyday life fast. AI + computer vision + precision sensors could completely transform therapeutic massage and personalized wellness.

This would be good to use alongside the massage therapist to take on the tasks that are more laborious and harsh on the hands of the therapist so they can avoid repetitive strain injuries.
