Christopher Nolan almost lost The Odyssey before it even finished filming. While flying into Scotland with the IMAX film cans, airport customs opened every single one of them. The same footage that took months to shoot across six countries… one bad light exposure away from being completely ruined. Nolan... sat there and watched it happen. He later told Jimmy Fallon: “They opened up all the cans. It was a massive amount of film cans… and they did not actually expose it. So now there are six of the lightweight ones around the world. Christopher Nolan has always paid homage to & honored the great directors who came before him & it’s one of the reasons I love Nolan so much: he’s a student of Cinema. It doesn’t surprise me in the slightest that Nolan pulled from directors like Steven Spielberg, George Lucas and Stanley Kubrick while making The Odyssey. He most definitely pulled from all three while making Oppenheimer as well.

This might be the most retarded marketing campaign I’ve ever seen. It's The Odyssey, directed by Christopher Nolan, one of the greatest filmmakers of our age, and they promote it with cringey RAPPING?! Hollywood, again, please just create a "SHUT YOUR PIE HOLE" clause for these actors. The only thing you should allow them to say is: "Hey, Christopher Nolan's got a new movie. Christopher Nolan’s next film is only 63 days away but the doubters are out in full force- you can hear them from miles away. I’d like to offer an olive branch to those questioning Nolan in this moment: there’s still time for you to reverse course & stop doubting Nolan. I’m truly surprised by how many have suggested that The Odyssey could be a full-blown failure. The “bust potential” conversations around this film are growing, albeit needlessly. Many have criticized Nolan’s casting decisions & creative decisions- without even seeing the film. This is all without mentioning that Nolan just won multiple Oscars- he just gave us an immediate classic with Oppenheimer. Doesn’t that mean he gets the benefit of the doubt? Shouldn’t people hold their reservations until they see Nolan’s vision through? It doesn’t make any sense to me. Let this be a line of demarcation. 63 days out from The Odyssey, if you’re one of those folks doubting/questioning Nolan, this might be one of your last chance to be on the right side of history when Nolan drops another classic.
