Christopher Nolan returns to theaters in 47 days. Summer wouldn’t be the same without a Nolan release. Whether it’s Oppenheimer, his three Batman films, Inception, or Dunkirk, Nolan sort of owns the month of July. Well…July’s in sight. We’re about to have another Nolan Summer.

16 years ago, Inception changed my expectations of what a summer blockbuster could deliver. Flash forward to 2026 & Christopher Nolan has done it again. I definitely see parallels between some of the filmmaking techniques Nolan deploys in Inception as well as in The Odyssey. The Odyssey feels like a summation of all of Nolan’s past work, Inception included.

I really believe Christopher Nolan is going to win the Oscar for Best Director & Best Picture in back-to-back films. For Nolan to give us The Odyssey in the wake of Oppenheimer is beyond words. I just can’t believe it. That said, Nolan will have to overcome Dune 3, which might not be possible. But I put Nolan in the driver’s seat right now.

In Batman Begins, the training scenes were shot in Iceland. Christopher Nolan didn’t want Bruce Wayne to simply decide to be a hero. “I’m interested in the process of becoming. Bruce Wayne as ordinary man without superpower.” He cast Liam Neeson because, as Nolan put it, he always looks trustworthy.
