What an insufferable pandering idiot. All poets are not alike. Rap music had a very unique origin. It arose out of urban street culture in the 20th-century United States. It arises from a culture that has deep roots in Afro-ethnicism. Greek poetry had a different origin. To throw a random element or voice on the simple connection between poet equals poet, I think, is an extremely maudlin and simplistic artistic decision. It further confirms the fact that this movie is a jambalaya stew, with everything but the kitchen sink tossed in together and not even lightly stirred. If they'd let it cook longer and settle in, maybe there could have been something that came out of that assemblage, but to me, it all comes down to acting and the suspension of disbelief. When I see actors cast as they were in this particular film, my mind never quite gets over it, and I begin to view the film from a "perspective once removed." If there's some underlying mechanism that ties the casting choices together in a logical or orderly way that reflects the theme, then that's one thing, but that is not the case here. If Nolan had such artistic instincts, he should have indulged them fully and recreated the Odyssey and retold it as an urban war adventure, although I'm not sure how you would have worked the Cyclops in. However you look at it, it just comes down to the bastardization of a classic Greek story that resonated based on its clear dramatic structure, mythical elements, and time-honored themes of honor, trust, betrayal, and yearning. I think the final nail in the coffin is Odysseus feeling guilty on his return, evil colonizer that he is. Why didn't he save us all the trouble and just stay home?

Based on that logic, there are way better rappers / MC’s than Travis Scott
