More info 🚨 On May 27, 1995, Christopher Reeve experienced a life-altering accident during an equestrian event in Virginia. While attempting a jump, Reeve was thrown from his horse, landing headfirst and fracturing his first and second cervical vertebrae. This catastrophic injury left him paralyzed from the neck down and dependent on a ventilator to breathe. Despite the severity of his condition, Reeve became a powerful advocate for spinal cord injury research and disabilities awareness, establishing the Christopher Reeve Foundation (later renamed the Christopher & Dana Reeve Foundation) to support scientific research and improve the quality of life for individuals living with paralysis. His advocacy work, coupled with his public optimism and determination, significantly raised awareness and funding for medical research.
