It would be much quieter if they wouldn't have the truck play that annoying "whirring" sound through an external speaker.

Now they just need a quieter robot arm since that's now the loudest part with the quiet EV truck. Would be a fun problem to solve - making a relatively quiet robotic arm to grab the garbage cans.

They are in a lot of large Chinese cities, including Chengdu and Nanjing. Here is a photo that I took today in Qingshanhu Sci-tech City near Hangzhou of an electric street sweeping truck. The big green box behind the cabin is the battery

We can now confirm the new hybrid diesel-electric tank has a pure electric mode using battery power. You can clearly hear the 12V cylinders rumble in the ZTZ-99B, while the ZTZ-100 is much quieter with a similar sized engine. This because the electric motors help to drive the tank, allowing the diesel engine to stay at a lower RPM.
