Classic performative activism! It's a tool where social issue is weaponized by the influencers to boost their own clout. What makes such videos so jarring is the glaring contradiction between the content and the process. Behind this ten-second clip of raw distress lies a cold, calculated production process: getting... ready, doing makeup, setting up a tripod, adjusting the lighting, summoning tears on command or maybe glycerine, editing out the setup and the end where she gets up to end the video, carefully selecting a trending soundtrack, posting, and then hoping it goes viral and brings clout. This behavior is driven by the warped incentives of the attention economy. Rather than keeping the public's focus on the actual victims or the socio-political reality of the protests, the influencer centers the tragedy entirely on themselves. The narrative subtly shifts from "Look at what is happening to these students" to "Look at how deeply I am suffering because of what is happening to these students."show more

What if one of these students is injured… or killed? Who will take responsibility then? One of the boys is the only child of his Parent. I made a nice little customization to the Rigify rig. Rigify has a setting to switch between "toe-tip roll" and "toe on the ground" ... but it's a property. To bring it to the viewport I set a driver to switch between the two states by scaling of the heel control. Then I created some shapekeys for the shape of the control to make it reflect the state of the foot. Also, there is a dot on the shape which is controlled by another shapekey. The dot is big only when the toe is fully down or fully up, otherwise it's tiny. #b3d #rigify #rigtip

Realizing people might not have realized that by "flower game" I mean this end screen is a DIRECT reference to the book of unveiling in Destiny 2, which itself refers to a modified version of John Horton Conway's Game of Life; the book refers to this as The Flower Game, a zero-player game where the only move is the initial set up of the pieces and their behaviors. I think if this Durandal is the one from the end of Marathon Infinity, then perhaps he's found a way to influence the Flower Game, and is using that influence to re-write the universe to create a reality that allows his escape from reality itself.

Great shot of a resident male cougar (likely the father of the kittens) at the end of July! We set this camera on a small wildlife trail along a beaver pond this spring, hoping to capture observations of cougars. And seems we picked the perfect spot. The male gives himself a quick scratch and then scent marks at the end of the video, a way to mark his territory. You can tell it is a male because it has a black spot of fur on its rear end (females don’t have that).
