A collapse of energy supply—specifically fossil fuels—would cause modern civilization to collapse within weeks, leading to widespread starvation, the breakdown of law and order, and a reversion to pre-industrial living conditions. This is Africa, where workers have no choice but use manpower for manufacturing. Because they can't afford electricity. China has no choice but build more dirty coal power plants to produce electricity. Because the U.S. Navy is controlling the high sea. They just attacked Venezuela, and they are planning to attack Iran. China can't get oil or gas from abroad, but China has plenty of coal. Unfortunately coal power plants produce lots of air pollution.

Why is it okay for Australian coal to be shipped to China, but not for us to use that same coal here? I'm at the Port of Gladstone with Dave Harris, One Nation candidate for Flynn. We've just seen a ship carrying Australian coal to an overseas market. We watch China build 2 new coal plants weekly using OUR coal and we are blowing ours up! Only One Nation's policy supports building more coal-fired power stations that will cut electricity costs by 50% in three years. It's time to put a stop to these destructive policies that are destroying our economy and putting financial strain on everyday Australians. It's time to vote One Nation!

Coal prices have risen internationally but Ukraine had nothing to do with #energy prices rising in Australia. Investment in #solar and #wind is to blame. It is important that the government in this country start facing reality and stop hiding the problem. The #Ukraine has nothing to do with #coal prices in this country. In fact, Australian coal prices did not rise at all under their existing long term contracts for our #coal-fired power stations. The government must stop misleading parliament that rising electricity prices in Australia are due to a war in the Ukraine. Massive solar and wind #subsidies are the cause of Australians suffering some of the highest #electricity prices in the world. Every time a coal fired power station is shut in this country we see yet the another spike in our power bills because unreliable #renewables cannot provide the same inexpensive baseload power supply. China's renewable expansion receives endless Western applause. Its coal expansion, however, gets far less attention. At the start of 2026, China had 1,207 operating coal-fired power stations. In 2025 alone, it added 78 GW of coal capacity, the most in a decade, and began building another 83 GW, with a record 161 GW of projects either proposed or revived. China consumed more than 4.9 billion tons of coal during 2025 -- which is 56% of the global total. One country burned more coal than the rest of the world combined -- and green activists applaud it. China is building wind and solar, yes, but it is not gambling its industrial economy on intermittent power. AI is the next industrial age, but it requires colossal quantities of dependable electricity. China is securing this mainly via coal, gas and nuclear. Meanwhile, Net Zero governments are closing reliable power stations, raising energy costs and driving industry east. Nations that continue sacrificing power on the altar of Net Zero will not lead the AI revolution. They will watch the future being built elsewhere.

The turbine blades alone represent 5.5 million tons of eventual waste. Existing US solar panels represent another 18 million tons. Then on top of that you have 140 cubic meters of concrete, this is just for the base remember, and of a small turbine. It ignores the hundreds of tons of fiberglass, aluminum and copper that go into the turbine itself. You also have to consider that the majority of turbines standing today will need replacing before 2050, with the majority of those materials including the concrete for the base almost impossible to reuse. As governments continue to chase Net Zero, millions of wind turbines will be built just to replace the ones we already have - tearing up land, burning coal and pouring billions of tons of concrete. This is far from clean energy. It's a dirty illusion.

Then tell everyone you’re saving the planet. HUGHESY - “We’re not allowed to burn it here... but we can sell it, and they can burn it... it’s one planet... so if you believe that coal kills the planet... why are you letting others burn it??”

In the Rajya Sabha today, I addressed key questions on coal exchange, coal gasification, and mine closure reforms. Under the leadership of Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, the Government of India has brought greater transparency and efficiency to the allocation of coal blocks through open auctions. Today, nearly 73–74% of India’s power generation comes from coal-based thermal plants, with around 80% of the coal produced being supplied to the power sector. Critical industries such as cement, steel, and fertilisers also depend heavily on coal. India holds the world’s fifth-largest coal reserves, sufficient to meet our needs for the next 60–70 years. We are further strengthening this position by accelerating exploration activities. Today, India is the second-largest coal producer globally, and Coal India Limited remains the largest coal-producing company in the world. We have also made significant progress in coal gasification, with projects worth over ₹64,000 crore underway. Highlighted that there are two types of gasification — surface and underground. We are actively advancing surface gasification, while underground gasification technologies are being carefully studied. I will share further updates once these are finalised. On mine closure, 143 coal mines are currently undergoing scientific closure processes. Dedicated nodal officers have been appointed for each site, with oversight committees led by respective district collectors. These efforts are focused not only on environmental sustainability but also on generating employment opportunities and ensuring a just transition for affected communities. Watch here:
