Code is now CHEAP… And for software developers/engineers, you should be humble because you are now dispensable… Yes we are dispensable and people who knows nothing about coding can now build full fletched full stack applications with payment integrations.

I really want to see one real world use case app that was vibe coded by someone with zero code background.

I will share them with you Just relax

Code is not cheap. Modern software is shitty right now, unthinkable bugs everywhere and even the AI tools are not cheap, a few prompts and you've exhausted your usage limit and it's not like you even got good results from that usage. People will appreciate reliability soon!

lol everyone can bake bread in their homes but people still buy in bakeries people can make apps cause their goals are to be CEO to maintain that devs are inexpendable I’m a vibecoder and i know that most vibecoder a don’t want to be devs we want to be CEOs software dev is valid!

Is it actually possible to vibecode a full product without coding fundamentals. I actually doubt it. Such a product will be a disaster.

The thing you can now add to yourself to make yourself indispensable is your critical thinking and problem solving statement... ability to communicate the problem ans solution with the board and team. Leadership too is part of it . All to make yourself upright

Hello there I asked a question under your comments before and got no reply reply The question was/is: Considering this, would you encourage someone to pursue a BSC in Software engineering?

They can build but not sustain it, fix it when it gets broken, follow up on bugs, migrate it to other servers without technical knowledge however They can't just erase us. I'm managing 2 platforms, some founders just vibe coded and could not scale, and am using the same AI too

Yes it's possible for a non-tech person to build a fully working prototype application but for a fully fledged enterprise application is NOT POSSIBLE for now

Coding might be cheap now, but software engineering is still very much valid, and Ai will accelerate their work. The difference will be likened to a bricklayer and a civil engineer.. With the help of AI, many will become “tech bricklayers”- they will build some small projects here and there. The catastrophe will be inevitable when they begin to think they have what it takes to build a cathedral.. However, caution to the software engineers who only code, they will be leveled out quickly…. This is the time to level up and become really valuable …

Software engineer solve problems and I don’t think this is the right way to look at it AI is an excellent coder but rarely a great engineer

Code is cheap Experience is not cheap Two difference scenario

There's no way you can build a full application with payment integration without any coding experience it's very much not possible, just show us one application that says otherwise

There is a difference when a professional software engineer uses AI and a none coder uses AI.

To me I think code writing was never the issue. The core is in designing of efficient systems and algorithms to solve problems. That 's the real deal.

Omo the way everyone in the tech space talks about AI just dey make my opinion sound ridiculous before saying it out. You're right, I just don't think this is the right way we should approach things. Code might be cheap now, but we should not allow AI to dictate how we value human work, creativity, and knowledge. I red the full Pope Leo XIV's encyclical on AI released a few weeks ago. I'm working on an article explaining what it means for software engineers like you. It will be published here on X.

Code is not cheap at all, by the time that vibe coder is doing building that full stack application with payment integration, he probably has exhausted as many tokens as possible. Body go tell am

While I believe people with no technical background can use AI to build simple things like portfolio websites, I don't believe they can build "fullstack applications WITH PAYMENT INTEGRATION"

omo you no sabi anything

We submitted an healthtech idea that leverages on Opay infrastructure for the Opay innovation challenge. We keep our hopes high to get in.

I am not a web developer, but was able to vide bode this in just one day. Payment gateway integrated, user authentication, enrolment, email services and SMS integrated in settings controllers. It is over for you guys! 😄

Few weeks ago, I said this same thing. But got comments from people trying to crucify themselves. Engineers needs to stop being too defensive on software and AI. If you're not careful, you'll just be replaced.

Pls what is that thing you are wearing around your neck. Is it to protect your neck?

Someone told me this. He’s very confident in AI. I was like, ‘No problem.

Mind sharing the LMS link? Let’s go pay your friend a visit 😁😁… Something tells me he’ll be greeted by an invoice from his service provider before the day is out. AI only shines in the hands of someone with real technical depth

Which code is cheap?? Lol...

lol 😂 this is not possible ooo Your system will crash lol First you must know the basic Except a student project

You’re wrong

When you guys read this, y'all will understand what he meant:

Them don start again , speak for yourself, why are you still giving ai prompts? AI should be dropping binaries for you at this point, u can build simple apps with AI, anything remotely complex, you need proper domain knowledge. Where una jumia? Why una never build am finish?

If I was an SE, I'd simply make an easy transition into Technical PM, AI PM or even AI Engineer. Or worse case scenario, become an indie developer.

Until the app crashes with 100 users

AI cannot build a full fletched full stack application without the aid of an actual developer. I think you people intentionally say things like this only to generate traffic to your post. Because you would've been mentioning those apps if they actually exist.

Code is cheaper, yes, but good engineering isn’t. Anyone can build something that works once. The value is in building things that still work when real users show up.

I stand with you
