Once you invest a little time on each tool, pin them, it’s a blast!

Is this built into an engine like Unity or unreal? Or are you just building the whole game in Codex?

Profilbild von Nicolas Zullo
Nicolas Zullovor 20 Tagen

The whole game is built in Codex. It’s ThreeJS

Profilbild von Merchant Legends Dan
Merchant Legends Danvor 20 Tagen

Oh wow! That’s a web based thing right? What complexity of game can ThreeJS do in your experience? Can you do full 3D RPG in the vein of Skyrim or is it best for small 2D games?

Profilbild von Nicolas Zullo
Nicolas Zullovor 20 Tagen

Yes, it's web based! Oh believe me with ThreeJS you can do a lot, see but mostly 3D

@Dimillian really well thought out man! Codex can literally become anything you put your mind and tokens to haha.

Codex is basically becoming a game dev operating system. 🤯 Build the tool, use it, then have Codex improve it

This is where it gets interesting. Not replacing the engine, but removing a lot of the friction around it: tools, tasks, experiments, fixes, notes, weird ideas. That’s the stuff that usually kills momentum.

The worktree + pinned-tool loop is a strong UX pattern: it turns a one-off generated utility into a repeatable part of the game pipeline. The next test is versioning—can a tool reproduce the same asset after the prompt, model, or art rules change?

Profilbild von Sebastian Buzdugan

animation is easy once, but generated scene graphs need stable names for reliable iteration

How would you recommend to build this tool in codex for native / web apps ?

Profilbild von Nicolas Zullo
Nicolas Zullovor 20 Tagen

It could be in the same stack as your web app, just behind a dev route like /__dev etc.

Profilbild von Shukran
Shukranvor 20 Tagen

thanks man, gonna try it out now. also all this noise with grok bot, have you figure it out how can we assign those repetitive workflows for each agents in codex and continue autonomously (ex. generate app icon from image reference, scrap info from google directory, add & deploy

Profilbild von Nicolas Zullo
Nicolas Zullovor 20 Tagen

Instead of Bots I have these pinned Thread, except they provide a UI on top. Also there are some skills that I have for each thread like /add-building, /generate-sfx etc for all the recurring tasks that needs a bit of scaffolding

I've had codex build two engines now because the games I've wanted requires it

Yeah it can do 3D but it’s not very good at it. Claude does the same thing too. Good for placeholders but there’s other means that will accomplish way more. Don’t burn your credits on that.
