Collegiate strength and conditioning coaches will do anything to keep their players busy except make them squat, press, deadlift, bench, and clean.

Re: Trust the experts - it’s just as dumb regarding S&C coaches as it was during covid to claim you couldn’t question anything a doctor said, even when they were obviously wrong about masks for example:

I don’t know man, these are very demanding movements that challenge strength, mobility, and stability. The major lifts you’ve given are all saggital plane movements. Super important, but so is what these guys are doing. Especially as quarterbacks.

They are “demanding” stability…. They’re gonna make D1 athletes out of these D1 athletes

My son is on the team. They do those lifts as well. Also, these are the quarterbacks.

I dont know this shit looks pretty tough

This was a partly tongue in cheek post meta-memeing some recent other posts about “middle aged women will do anything to lose weight except count calories, do cardio, and lift weights.” However it’s true that basic strength comes first before specific strength. I haven’t fleshed the topic out completely yet, but 3 articles on my Substack for a topic that isn’t conducive to Twitter length or rancor: 1. 2. 3.

Because those are all useless outside of the gym, these are athletes not weightlifters.

Do you think the ability to move through the frontal plane is important to an athlete? Or produce force through a single leg? Or maybe it’s more nuanced than just squat, press, DL, clean? I dunno just asking.

Those movement you listed aren’t functional though 😂

Dude those deficit courtesys’ are no joke
