You may have some valid points that are worthy of public discussion. However, your hyper and irrational demeanor is not helping your argument. The world is not going to end tomorrow. Americans have the best chance to do AI right. Pushing data centers to China and similar countries is bad for the environment and for Western values.

This isn't my hyperinarational demeanor this is who I am. Spend any amount of time with me other than when I'm being professional and testifying and I am always spicy. It's what I'm known for for being in the public eye for the past 20 years.

@KristenMeghan @SadiesMopingBed Agreed. They all all. They pretend to be activists, but prove they aren't by their total lack of leading a group of people when we live in a time where it's never been easier to get people together.

What's the science behind golf courses and farms pulling out 30x the groundwater over the course of the year but somehow this a slower rate??

Kristen Meghan👩‍🔬🐻 的头像
Kristen Meghan👩‍🔬🐻12 天前

It's not about the amount of water used! It's about how fast the water is drawn out. When you draw out water way too fast it lowers the water table and impacts aquifers. It does not leave time for it to recharge. Look at virginia, they're aquifers are drying up they are facing a massive problem.

Data Centers can be built under ground, sealed compartments, plausible liquid immersion to cool server unites and power generation supplied by nuclear SMR.

EPA doesn't have regulations ---- WRONG Closed loop systems are not just closed ---- That makes no sense. Of course they're closed, hence the term "closed loop." Of course the overall cooling system can still consume water, but to suggest the closed loop isn't actually closed??? Glycol systems still use water ---- Yes, in closed loop systems. Nobody is routinely pumping glycol into rivers & streams. It circulates through the loop. It's evaporative cooling ---- Depends on the system. Evaporative, dry, hybrid. And it's the rate at which it is drawn out ---- Withdrawal rate is only half of the equation. If we're discussing environmental impact, don't talk about withdrawal rate without also talking about consumptive use. On to the water chemistry, which is a legitimate issue for evaporative systems. Evaporation can concentrate dissolved solids and metals in cooling-tower water. That's why cooling towers require blowdown.... but that's different from saying a closed glycol loop is consuming its water. And if you're claiming the facility will elevate nitrates, metals or TDS in the surrounding groundwater, you need to identify the source, discharge pathway and site specific hydrogeology. FUN FACT: Those aren't automatic consequences of operating a data center. About the noise..... Sounds like when I was a kid and we were all told by the hippies that nuclear power plants would make us glow in the dark. Folks should stop turning every hyperscale data center build into some Three Mile Island design. It's up to the state & locals to ensure no corners are cut and environmental standards are established early on in these projects. Former CIO for the world's largest environmental companies.... who's had a hand in data center design & cooling systems for decades. Thank you for attending my TED Talk.

We've had data centers since the mainframe era. There is a reasonable discussion to be had about data centers of any kind but there is so much dis-information out there people should spend a little more time getting informed.

Posting videos on X whining about Data Centers . NIMBY is the theme . Give up your streaming , tic toc, apps, etc and go back to about 2004 and the massive data centers won’t be necessary . Of course you aren’t about to give anything up .

🚨She’s right on the physical facts: 24/7 low-frequency noise A-weighted meters miss, water strain, diesel tests, light, farms and homes next to plants that never sleep. Those are not rumors. 🚨The explosion is the hiding. People with nothing to hide hide nothing. So why NDAs with county officials before the zoning vote? Why noise studies that only report dBA and skip C- and Z-weighted data people can actually feel? Why water and power numbers treated as trade secrets until after approval?⚡️ 🚨⚡️Kelo still lets government take land for private “economic development.” Pair that with closed-door PILOT tax deals, utility certificates that can override local zoning, and “critical infrastructure” labels used to limit disclosure—and the public is told to trust a process designed not to answer them.⚡️ 🚨🚨⚡️Ask for the real measurements in public and watch the room go silent. Water and environment add weight. Secrecy is what creates the crisis. If there is nothing to fear, there is complete transparency. There isn’t. That is why people don’t trust it. 🌹

Shes right. Excessive data centers are the problem. Abusing that technology is the biggest issue. I have to keep thay in mind with my own content.

We have a new data center by our neighborhood, and we have a meat processing plant too. Energy bill hasn't gone up, water bill hasn't gone up, I hear no noise, but what we do have is the meat plant having our neighborhood smell like straight ass 24/7. I'll take the data center

Okay okay, here is the thing, evap cooling will be nonexistant come 2030, read Darpa project IceCool...... Also these hyperscale centers are unlikely to poison the water supply, as Pharma and golf courses currently do. The future will likely be synthetic coolant in a closed loop.

85% evaporation loss with cascade cooling systems. The make up water alone will be insane on a daily basis.

The race with China is fake. Our country is too far along this path to becoming a part of the globalist blob. China is exactly what we don’t want to become. Racing to become them is a joke. We have to protect our agency as people and as a sovereign nation.

You are right but we should shut down everything that uses water, power and makes noise. Everyone should live happy and healthy in the woods in total peace and quiet. Won't have anything to eat, no money, no jobs, no tech, but hey, it will be nirvana anyway.

quantum computers would be even more intense centralized data centers, and have even more brutal cooling demands. The issue is HOW we build mass compute for Ai in america, and not if. The biggest thing we need is mass nuclear power production and over 100 gigawatts of power going online a year.

Well, let's look at her credentials shall we can cross check: (1) Kristen Meghan Kelly has a master’s in occupational safety and health and Air Force bioenvironmental experience. Public reporting from 2021 stated she was not a CIH and described that as a personal choice; I found no later public record that she obtained the CIH or an equivalent board credential. She has: A master’s in occupational safety and health (MS-OSH). HERE are the credentials she claims: Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) — Board for Global EHS Credentialing. This is the primary board credential for quantifying noise, vibration, diesel exhaust, particulates, heat, chemicals, and related community/occupational exposures. Data-center EHS consulting and commissioning roles commonly list CIH as preferred or required for exactly this work. NEXT: There is no standalone credential whose title or scope is “human and environmental impacts of hyperscale data centers.” That is an application area, not a recognized certification category. (A) She cannot accurately claim a specialized or board credential for that topic, because that credential does not exist and she does not appear to hold the closest ones (especially CIH). Calling herself “credentialed on” hyperscale data-center health and environmental impacts is marketing language, not a precise professional description. Experience can still be useful; it is not the same thing as board certification. (B) There is no board credential in “human and environmental impacts of hyperscale data centers.” The recognized credentials for that kind of assessment are things like CIH (exposure science), CSP, a relevant PE, or noise-control board certification. (C) She also uses the word inconsistently. The video post says she “actually is credentialed” on this topic. Two days later she wrote: “I don’t claim to be credentialed. I’m a 24-year senior industrial hygienist…” COMMUNITY NOTES???

Funny, try's to say know what your talking about, when clearly she does not, a closed loop cooling system is like a radiator on your car, no water needed once it is operational, the noise from energy generation can be contained well below acceptable decibel levels.

Jolly: Byron Donalds’ real plan to bring down property taxes is to devalue your house by building a hyperscale data center next door to you. Byron Donalds is doing something that Donald Trump is doing and every other conflicted politician is doing who’s on all sides of this issue now. So big tech wants to come in and bring in the hyperscale data centers. Politicians like Byron Donalds have said, “Yeah, come on in. Build on our pristine lands. Give me the money in my campaign account, and I’ll let you do it.” Voters said, “Whoa, whoa, whoa. We don’t want hyperscale data centers.” And so now the position of the White House and Byron Donalds has pivoted to the following: “Ratepayer protection.” Ratepayer protection is what they’re saying to make it look like they’re pushing back. Now, understand what that means. That means that big tech and utilities have to pay their own way. They’re allowed to plunder as long as they pay for the plundering. Well, voters are saying, “We don’t want you to plunder.” And by the way, paying your own way should have been the baseline. That’s not a big reform. That’s just because they got caught subsidizing the development of these hyperscale data centers. Now, their position is, “We’re going to make them pay their own way,” and they’re taking a victory lap as though it’s some important consumer protection. No, it’s not. Look who’s cheering on the Trump-Donalds plan for hyperscale data centers. Who is cheering it on? Big tech and big utilities. Who’s against it? Voters. And so, it is a bold-faced lie when you hear Byron Donalds say, “I’m protecting the people of Florida.” No, he’s not. He’s allowing big tech and hyperscale data centers to come into your backyard, plunder our environment, devalue your property, destabilize your community, and then pat himself on the back all the way on his road to what he thinks is going to be a November victory. He’ll be proven wrong.
