Command & Conquer on a real 486 from 1995. Before this, strategy games had MIDI beeps. Westwood gave us Klepacki's industrial metal through CD audio. Kane's briefing. The sound of war. You don't just remember it, you lived it. GamesYouLoved #CommandAndConquer #DOSGaming

@gamesyouloved That was not Kane, that was Seth, just Seth, from god to Kane to Seth, and he has a task for you.

@gamesyouloved Yep, good catch. Seth handled the missions. Kane ran the show.

@gamesyouloved Remember Dune and Dune 2 before this by westwood ? in 1992 ... The first True RTS was Dune 2 imo

@gamesyouloved The music in C&C wasn't redbook audio coming from the audio tracks on the CD. It was streamed from the files on the data track and the manual even mentioned how this was better as there was no delay when tracks changed which was a issue with most games using CD audio at the time.

@gamesyouloved That's Seth, not Kane. He shows up later.

@gamesyouloved Yep, good catch. Seth handled the missions. Kane ran the show.

@gamesyouloved I lived it alright.This and Red Alert OMFG Heaven back then ..

@gamesyouloved but, its seth looking at you...

@gamesyouloved Yep, good catch. Seth handled the missions. Kane ran the show.

@gamesyouloved First game back then was something else. I remember going to the game store to buy the box

@gamesyouloved Gorgeous.

@gamesyouloved From God, to Kane, to Seth.

@gamesyouloved It’s very hard to compare games if you have had this experience.

@gamesyouloved This game corrupted me. The HS I transferred to when I was a kid only required ½ a gym credit and I had a full credit when I moved there so somehow that made it to where I had a half day of school 3 days a week and I never told anyone. I went home and played this.

@gamesyouloved It was insane

@gamesyouloved Delicious 640 x 480 resolution graphics FTW. SO crisp.

@gamesyouloved We had a very similar set up in 95 but with the first gen Pentium chip. Great memories. I remember the computer seeming state of the art and then a few years later seemed so terrible

@gamesyouloved As long as the System Builder remembered to connect the CD-Audio cable up (be surprised how many forgot to install that cable between the drive & sound card) or were lucky enough to have a 3.5mm jack (like pictured) on front of the CD-ROM drive to play it directly through that.

@gamesyouloved I am still listening to this soundtrack in 2025. Bonafide goated soundtrack.

@gamesyouloved I lived it. Think I was in grade 6. Had a Compaq presarrio 486. My dad’s friends would hand me down games when they were done with them or make a copy of a floppy. Simpler times. My greatest ambition back then was getting a Microsoft sidewinder gamepad.

@gamesyouloved I remember Seth. Just Seth. From God, to Cain, to Seth.

@gamesyouloved Back then, midi devices like the SC-55 and SC-88 were already a thing.

@gamesyouloved My fav game back then

@gamesyouloved Long time ago i played a red alert 2 demo cd and never played a c&c game again until i find the saga on sale short ago. The best buy of the day and loved the RA 1 music (tiberian dawn music too)

@gamesyouloved This is exactly how I wanted to site to feel

@gamesyouloved Best game ever

@gamesyouloved It was glorious

@gamesyouloved Try 2011 and my friend still playing it in his basement. 😄

@gamesyouloved I played C&C on a 486 in the 90s

@gamesyouloved Best game ever. I had trouble getting the game working. Then I accidently typed mouse on the dos promt and it installed mouse driver. I was in heaven after it finally started playing 😂

@gamesyouloved really - you cut out slapping back the women?

@gamesyouloved Even the install process was wicked cool

@gamesyouloved I love it
