@BrianRoemmele 1983 was pivotal for computing - the Commodore 64 introduced millions to programming through BASIC. Dr. Simonyi's work that year at Xerox PARC on WYSIWYG editors would later revolutionize how we interact with computers.

Mechwar was so difficult, it took two chapters of reading to get out of the citadel, lol. Said you had missiles and lasers, but you never saw anything on the screen when you fired them, just the result in words, lol!

I remember playing my Odyssey in 1983! Wish I had a commodore though🥹☺️🤩

Great computer!! My best friend and I spent hours staring at blocks of color in shapes like cars, indiana Jones, etc. Then bought Mechwar for like $25 or something back then! And it was just a book, and fewer blocks on the screen... Powered more by imagination... Back to cars!

Have commodore 64 and a 1541 as my backdrop in my office....dust them off and play with them every so often...jumpman!!

I really need to go dig out my old 64, 1541 and the C= monitor to go with them...

VIC-20 was my first foray into backdoor hacking. Such good memories. First download, Fast Freddy? Over a 300 baud modem, coupler interface.

C64 turned me into a nerd, and I love it. It brought me knowledge and a desire to ask profound questions, some even to this day. I like to tell the younger ones, learn any of the engineering disciplines, it will make you think clearer and better.
