It would be helpful if the complaint could be accompanied by evidence....! Dutch migrant - drive a lot throughout Wales, never had a problem getting lost due to Welsh road signs. Most are bilingual, occasionally *followed* by English only & Welsh only signs.

It's happened to me on a few occasions and I know it's true. I'm not the type of person to ask people to take pictures whilst driving to 'provide evidence.' Times and dates have been provided when it's been raised with the highways agency.

Drakey is wrong..... again I have also suffered Welsh only signs on the M4 after a road accident We didn't have a clue what the sign was trying to tell us. It was dark and raining, really unsafe not to have the signs in English as well

Agree totally. Driving through France and Germany causes exactly the same confusion when signage isnt in Welsh or English.

In Wales most Welsh speakers can also speak and understand English, also in Wales most English speakers don't understand or speak a word of Welsh so simple answer just have English signs

English is a foreign language in Wales. Just be grateful that we have been so accommodating as to translate everything into your language. They don’t translate into welsh when I go to England.

Politicians are making some pretty bold claims about the cuts they will make in Wales to save money. The problem is, their maths doesn’t add up. Here are 3 things that, even if you cut them, will make very little difference to the amount of cash Wales has: --- The Nation of Sanctuary. A scheme to help (mainly Ukrainian refugees) contribute to Welsh society. Cost = £10m/year = 0.037% of the Welsh budget. --- The planting in Uganda. A scheme that offsets 25% of Wales’ transport emissions (not bad for the cost of one 3-bed house). Cost = £270k/year = 0.001% of budget. --- Scrap 20mph. This would actually COST £40m in changing the signs back. It also would cost the taxpayer more through increased casualties and higher insurance (about £90m a year). It is fine to want to scrap any of these policies if you think the money can be better spent elsewhere. But politicians need to stop pretending it will make any meaningful difference to the ability of the Welsh Government to deliver public services. They are rounding errors on a spreadsheet.

Grossly offensive for Keir Starmer to say England's flag needs to be "reclaimed" from the far-right; and to use St George's Day to say so is despicable The English are the only people on these isles whose national identity is denigrated When the Scots and Welsh rightly wave their national flags with great gusto it's called "Progressive Nationalism". When the English do, it's "racist" Starmer could have used St. George's Day to celebrate England's great achievements.....instead he spoke of the "far right". Here are 3 ways that the current system screws over Wales. If politicians are not talking about these issues, they are not serious about fixing Wales' problems. ---------- 1. The Welsh Gov has less borrowing powers than a council. 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿Wales can only borrow £150m a year (and £1bn in total). That is the equivalent of just 0.57% of our budget. 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿Scotland can borrow £450m a year (and £3bn in total). This makes it really hard for Wales to make big investments like building hospitals and schools unless we use super expensive funding models like PFI. The worst thing is, Scotland's borrowing rates have increased with inflation every year since 2016 whereas Wales' have been frozen! ---------- 2. Wales’ can’t even spend its own money If Wales makes good financial decisions and has money left at the end of the year, it is only allowed to carry over a very small amount. The total the Welsh Government can have in the reserve is £350m. While that might sound like a lot, it really isn’t in a government context. The Welsh Government’s budget is £27bn. This means that the Welsh reserve is just 1.35% of its budget. And that £350m isn’t per year, that is the total it can carry. This means that if the Welsh Government reserve is full, then any money that isn’t spent is just taken back by the Treasury in Westminster. What makes this system even worse is that the UK Treasury has imposed limits on how much of its own reserves Wales can even use! Of the £350m Wales can only access £175m a year. Scotland has a reserve of £700m AND it has no limit on how much of that it can spend. Plus yet again, Scotland’s was linked to inflation whereas Wales’ wasn’t. There is simply no justification for Wales being treated differently to Scotland. The UK Government isn’t able to get away with treating Scotland like Wales because the Scots wouldn’t stand for it. ---------- 3. Rail Because rail is devolved in Scotland, when the UK Government spends money in England on rail, Scotland gets extra cash. Scotland gets billions of pounds in extra funding because of HS2 (which is only in England). But because rail isn’t devolved to Wales, the Treasury can class HS2 as an “England and Wales project” meaning Wales gets nothing. It is worse than that. Because HS2 is counted as a Welsh project, it stops Wales getting extra money in the future because on the spreadsheet it looks like Wales has already had investment (even though it all went to England). ---------- You could have the best politicians in the world in Cardiff Bay but they still couldn’t fix Wales’ problems because the tools at their disposal are not fit for purpose. The challenges Wales faces are not because of immigrants, they are because the system of funding we have is set up so that we can’t fail to fail.

But because rail isn’t devolved to Wales, the Treasury can class HS2 as an “England and Wales project” meaning Wales gets nothing. It is worse than that. Because HS2 is counted as a Welsh project, it stops Wales getting extra money in the future because on the spreadsheet it looks like Wales has already had investment (even though it all went to England). ---------- You could have the best politicians in the world in Cardiff Bay but they still couldn’t fix Wales’ problems because the tools at their disposal are not fit for purpose. The challenges Wales faces are not because of immigrants, they are because the system of funding we have is set up so that we can’t fail to fail.

When the English wave the St. George's Cross it's deemed "racist" The English have every reason to celebrate their national identity Indeed, only the land we today call Italy can rival the achievements of England* in making the modern world English language Industrial Revolution (modern day) Capitalism Common Law Parliamentary Democracy Railways Sport British Empire Liberty & Rights of Englishmen English Protestantism & rise of Individualism ....the list goes on... I am not ethnically English, but I love this country far above all others. And I have never regarded the St. George's cross as a symbol of division or hatred. On the contrary, there is nothing more quintessentially wholesome and peaceful than the sight of the English flag fluttering atop an ancient church tower in England's green & pleasant countryside. 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 *[This is not to deny or belittle the rest of the UK, particularly of course the great achievements of Scotland in the Industrial Revolution, rise of industrial capitalism (Adam Smith) and the advance of the British Empire. FRAUDULENT CDL SCHOOL UPDATE: DHS alongside the DOT has found 75 CDL schools suspected of helping illegals fraudulently qualify for CDL licenses. These “schools”, called CDL mills, would fast track non-English speaking illegals through their “classes” and help them obtain non-domiciled CDL licenses. These “mills” led to hundreds of thousands of illegals being issued fraudulent CDL licenses, resulting in Americans being killed on U.S. highways. Earlier this year, I began investigating how migrants were getting licenses and found schools just like the one below, advertising CDL classes in foreign languages to migrants overseas, even offering free housing and airport pick up for migrant attendees. Some schools even advertised that migrants could get their license in “as little as 10 days”. DOT has tried to crack down on this issue and has since: Taken 24,000 drivers off the roads for failing to speak English Forced states to cancel 28,000 licenses illegally issued to foreign drivers Purged 9,500 unqualified CDL training schools from FMCSA registry. The DOT also re-instated “English Language Proficiency” requirements, ensuring that drivers could speak/understand English before being granted their CDL license. Now they’re going after the nationwide CDL mills that helped these non-English speaking migrants get their licenses. (I am unaware if the below school is a part of the above mentioned investigation and will reach out to the DOT for comment. I am simply attaching the video as an example of how CDL schools across the nation have been advertise their CDL training programs).

Here is the real voice of Einstein. In 1941, the great physicist was recorded reading an essay he wrote called "The Common Language of Science." In this fascinating excerpt, he warns of the dangers of "errors and deception" that come from letting your language (and ideas) drift away from the reality perceived by your senses. Good message for all times — especially ours. The Common Language of Science The first step towards language was to link acoustically or otherwise commutable signs to sense-impressions. Most likely all sociable animals have arrived at this primitive kind of communication--at least to a certain degree. A higher development is reached when further signs are introduced and understood which establish relations between those other signs designating sense impression. At this stage it is already possible to report somewhat complex series of impressions; we can say that language has come to existence. If language is to lead at all to understanding, there must be rules concerning the relations between the signs on the one hand and on the other hand there must be a stable correspondence between signs and impressions. In their childhood individuals connected by the same language grasp these rules and relations mainly by intuition. When man becomes conscious of the rules concerning the relations between signs the so-called grammar of language is established. In an early stage the words may correspond directly to impressions. At a later stage this direct connection is lost insofar as some words convey relations to perceptions only if used in connection with other words (for instance such words as: "is", "or", "thing"). Then word-groups rather than single words refer to perceptions. When language becomes thus partially independent from the background of impressions a greater inner coherence is gained. Only at this further development where frequent use is made of so-called abstract concepts, language becomes an instrument of reasoning in the true sense of the word. But it is also this development which turns language into a dangerous source of error and deception. Everything depends on the degree to which words and word combinations correspond to the world of impression. What is it that brings about such an intimate connection between language and thinking? Is there no thinking without the use of language, namely in concepts and concept-combinations for which words need not necessarily come to mind? We might be inclined to attribute to the act of thinking complete independence from language if the individual formed or were able to form his concepts without the verbal guidance of his environment.
