Today Conservatives introduced Bill C-270, the Stand on Guard Act, to protect Canadians who defend their homes and families. Since 2015, violent crime is up 55%, gun crime is up 130%, and extortion is up 330% across Canada. Our legislation will clarify the law so victims who defend themselves against intruders are not treated like criminals. Canadians deserve to feel safe in their own homes. We are calling on all parties to support Bill C-270 to ensure the law stands with victims, not criminals.

Bill C-5 included abilities for the PM to ignore conflict of interest laws --Conservatives stopped that. When I tried to put safeguards in C-5 to keep the Liberals from stacking the deck in favour of their friends, they tried to block it and voted against it. Thankfully, our Conservative motion passed. We also won limits on the cabinet's power so no government can sidestep foundational laws like the Lobbying Act, Criminal Code, and Auditor General Act. Only Conservatives will stand up for transparency, integrity, and the public interest.
