Nice, reminds me of Megabonk. 😀

That's what twitch chat has been telling me. Havn't played it yet :)

Days Gone pre-alpha

hahaha XD

I made something like this with GPU instancing in Unity. You could shoot them because I kept the hitboxes separate and synced the position. I could have like 10,000 cubes following me while my gun and movement scripts were also running.

These are also running pathfinding and avoidance on each individually :D Only 4000 here, but i can run about 10k at over 120hz i think. I don't have hitboxes, but the player can be damaged via a distance check i already do. Godot has built in instancing so that part is free.

now just replace the cubes with zombiez

Love me a good horde mechanic in games.

It immediately reminded me of the salmon run mode in Splatoon

@mreliptik This is impressive stuff. Looks great!

this is so cool!

oh I miss making game on Godot so bad. this looks awesome

Yes cube swarms 😂 Also, Godot engine for life

why it looks soo much fun XD

are you using navigationagent3ds with avoidance or direct pathqueries to the navigation server? im trying to make similar swarms but performance is poop

NavigationServer3D!

it wouuld be better if the main character is a circle or a triangle, so it looks like they are look the odd one

Hi @kebabskal , you already know I love you, so WHY Godot? 😭 You are killing me here P.S. We can't port in Godot yet...

Did I ever make it easy for anyone? XD

This looks like megabonk style, love these type of games

yeah! people keep making that comparison :) i didn't play it until yesterday, but it's kinda goated! not sure that would be the gameplay for this one tho... we'll see!

So many cubes :o
Reminds me of Stray 🥰

Oh yeah! Havnt thought about that in a while. Must revisit!

On a scale of 1 to 10, how do you see Godot? What are the interesting things that you picked this instead of Unity or Unreal?

8. I switched when unity did their little licensing stunt. I like godot for its really fast iteration loop. And it being open in case i beed something. I used to mod it a bit and use my own builds but not had the need since 4.2 or something. Unreal feels too big and unvieldy.

Great, thank you 🙏🏻

So, what happened with Ocean Mirror and Wild Growth?

We are in the finishing phase of Wild Growth! Expect news soon :) Ocean Mirror is a bit less certain.

Can’t wait news 🤯

you played megabonk to much didn't you :D

Actually, no! But i did after everyone said the same thing, and its pretty cool :) Didnt get it from videos, but playing itmade it hit better

How did you get high fps although there are large amount of Actors??!!

I’m doing something simlar to what nickname is doing here, only in gdscript. He actually came on to the stream and helped me figure it out!

Thank you so much for taking the time to reply!! I see. I'll watch the video right away. Thank you so much!!

Do you purposefully have the camera start to shake when the swarm gets close to you cause I think that adds to the feel of the size of the swarm immensely

There is no shake… but thats a great idea XD

I tried to start learning godo by customizing movement system, but man is it hard when you do 3d movement, do you have any tips on where to start ? Great video btw !!!
