'They tried to cancel the parade': Hundreds of Albertans roll into Sundre after rodeo parade shutdown When the Sundre Pro Rodeo Association cancelled this year's rodeo parade amid controversy surrounding a proposed pro-Alberta float, many thought the tradition was over. Instead, it got bigger. What began as a grassroots effort by Alberta activists to keep the parade spirit alive turned into a massive cruise through town, with organizers estimating roughly 500 vehicles participated in the unofficial replacement parade. Locals lined the streets, children collected candy, and Albertans travelled from across the province to show their support for both Sundre and Alberta pride. The controversy began after a pro-Alberta float was reportedly told it could not participate in the official parade because it was considered too political. The decision sparked backlash online and ultimately contributed to the cancellation of the annual parade. Organizers of the replacement event say their goal was not confrontation, but community. Participants told Rebel News they were frustrated to see a longstanding western tradition cancelled over what many viewed as nothing more than Alberta flags and provincial pride. Others said they attended because they support Alberta independence, while some simply wanted to ensure the community still had a parade to enjoy. Vehicles converged on Sundre from organized meet-up points in Calgary and Red Deer before cruising through town. According to organizers, the event was conducted respectfully, with participants encouraged to support local businesses, attend the rodeo, and leave the community cleaner than they found it. By the end of the day, what was supposed to be a cancelled parade had become one of the largest displays of Alberta pride the town had seen in years, if not ever. The Premier did not say she would campaign against Alberta sovereignty in the event of a referendum. Her answer in French matches exactly what she told me at the UCP AGM: She supports Alberta sovereignty within a united Canada, and she reiterated that position, nothing more. I need Danielle or someone from her team to explain this to me because this isn't making sense. Alberta Premier Danielle Smith: "Let's have an aggressive target to double our population." Smith wants to get Alberta's population to 10m people so we can be taken seriously by the federal government. Huh?! We barely have the infrastructure to sustain current population. Our water infrastructure in Calgary is falling apart. Alberta is already the province of choice for people to move to and it's creating mass unaffordability in the rental market and housing. Alberta is already full of LMIA scams and leading the country in unemployment. Why do we need to destroy our province and make the mistakes other provinces made to peacock for the federal government?

ANYWAY… Nenshi’s pathetic attack on the Premier yesterday in regards to her “accepting private flights and lavish gifts” from the Prince of Saudi Arabia, is not quite accurate. 🧐 As the Premier says in question period, the oil refineries they visited are not accessible by commercial aircraft. Much like here in Alberta where chartered flights are needed to reach them. The flight she was on was NOT paid for by Albertans. So the Alberta NDP are mad that she DIDN’T use taxpayer money? Weird flex. 🙃 Yet another nothing burger served up by Nenshi and Co. with a side of day old fries. 🍟 👀

Alberta flags allegedly stolen from children at Canada Day parade Imagine taking Alberta flags out of the hands of children because you don't like how their parents might vote. That's exactly what one Alberta independence campaign says happened in Wetaskiwin. Now, the RCMP investigation has reportedly been escalated. I spoke with the man behind United Alberta Flags, John Tomkinson, at Keith Wilson's sold-out 1,000-person Let Alberta Decide Stampede breakfast. The turnout at Wilson's Stampede breakfast made one thing clear: Alberta's independence movement is drawing crowds in the real world, not just online. Nearly 1,000 people packed Ranchman's Cookhouse just days after tickets went on sale, bringing together supporters and third-party advertiser groups from across the province ahead of the October 19 referendum. One of those groups was United Alberta Flags, founded by Tomkinson. His organization has been travelling the province, handing out Alberta flags and encouraging Albertans to proudly display them as part of the referendum campaign. But Tomkinson's group has also become embroiled in a growing controversy. United Alberta Flags alleges that volunteers with the opposing Forever Canadian campaign removed Alberta flags and referendum campaign materials from children and families during the Wetaskiwin Canada Day parade. According to Tomkinson, additional witnesses and video evidence have led the Wetaskiwin RCMP to elevate the investigation to the Central Alberta RCMP Investigations Division.
