He is saying no Govt official messaged him, then how did he win Arjuna Award which is awarded by Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports? That is a govt recognition and a big one. It shows he has been acknowledged. Maybe he is not 'celebrated' enough, I wish state govt notices him.

Felicitating that a-hole, Elvish, in front of all those Haryanvis by the CM himself was a new low I witnessed and asked myself how degraded of a society we have become now. Imagine not celebrating intellectuals and people who really have given so much to the nation.

I doubt he is telling the truth. Top level athletes do get support from government, sponsors in India. Compare that with athletes in some of the developed nations. For example in Chess, the top 10 Indian players have got massive support from government, private sponsors.

Why do sportsperson feel like they are doing it as a favour to the country? They ultimately do it for themselves. Yes as a nation we are proud of their achievements, and then a lot of laurels, prizes etc follow but what is with this demand that we are gods, bow before us.
