The BJP has been ruling in BMC now for almost 30 years, 25 years in alliance with Sena and in control via administrators for the years there were no BMC elections. It now has a majority in BMC. But it has been pretending as if it had no hand in what has gone wrong with the city. Instead online warriors have been unleashed by each of the responsible parties to defend the indefensible. This happens year after year and yes, the BJP is quite responsible for the 25 year mess in the BMC that it pretends wasn't its fault.

Flooding issue resolved in 70% of the identified areas of Bengaluru, remaining to be fixed soon. We had identified 210 areas as flood prone in Bengaluru. Ever since I took over as the Bengaluru Development Minister, we have fixed flooding issues in 166 (70%) of those localities. Flood prevention work is currently going on in 24 areas while work would soon be taken up in the remaining 20 areas. We have built 197 km of storm water drains. Traffic police have identified 132 spots which are flooded during heavy rains. Of these, we have rectified issues in 82 spots and 41 spots are yet to be fixed. We are spending Rs 2000 crore for storm water drains. Rain is controlled by nature while we can only try to control the controllables. We are rectifying flood-prone areas and are trying to help the common people. Quantum of rainfall has been very high in Silk Board junction, Hebbal and Yelahanka area. Underpass works are underway in a couple of places in these areas and they have been flooded. This is Mylapore, off Radhakrishnan Salai near Vivekananda college. NO ONE has come to clear the water here. It’s been like this since yesterday, and by the minute more sewage water is coming out and getting mixed. Water has entered all the houses at ground floor level here. Please do something about this and other parts of Mylapore. Water has never stagnated here, not even during the 2015 floods. All through the year, they kept digging up the roads and multiple times the roads caved in and they kept restoring. Now the whole thing has reversed and water is completely stagnated. People in the apartments and houses here are not able to step outside to get basic needs and provisions. Not even drinking water. We’ve not had power for more than 48 hours now. The power was cut around 10 PM day before yesterday. No network either, until we come out of the apartment or go to some corners in the terrace. More than two dozen children attending Camp Mystic, an all-girls Christian summer camp on the Guadalupe River, were still unaccounted for as of Saturday afternoon. At least 37 people have died, officials said.
