I held a meeting with the heads of investment funds and business associations, both Ukrainian and international. We discussed how we can expand the capabilities of our defense industry, develop new areas of cooperation, and open export platforms for weapons. We count on continued support for Ukraine. For us, this is one of the new spheres where we can see tangible growth in cooperation and in Ukraine’s defense industry. According to our estimates, in 2026, the production potential for drones and missiles alone will reach 35 billion dollars. Ukraine is ready to share its expertise and technologies and to develop joint production. We are also ready to open export platforms for weapons in Europe, the United States, and other countries, provided there is proper control and protection of our technologies. I thank everyone who supports Ukraine, invests in Ukrainian intelligent strength, and enables us to keep building our joint capabilities together. MAHAMA ANNOUNCES HISTORIC FIRST DELIVERY OF GHANAIAN CRUDE TO LOCAL REFINERY President Outlines Bold Value-Addition Agenda at Ghana Diaspora Town Hall Meeting in London LONDON, UNITED KINGDOM — President John Dramani Mahama has announced a landmark breakthrough in Ghana’s energy and industrial transformation agenda, revealing that Ghana will, for the first time in years, begin refining its own crude oil locally as part of a comprehensive strategy to drive industrialization, create jobs, strengthen local manufacturing, and retain greater value within the national economy. Addressing hundreds of Ghanaians, investors, professionals and business leaders at the Ghana Diaspora Town Hall Meeting in London, President Mahama outlined his administration’s vision for transforming Ghana from an exporter of raw materials into a modern industrial economy powered by value addition and local production. Speaking passionately about the future of Ghana’s energy sector, President Mahama disclosed that the government is aggressively expanding offshore oil and gas production while simultaneously ensuring that the country develops the capacity to process more of its natural resources domestically. According to the President, Ghana has secured major upstream investments, including a fresh commitment of approximately US$1.5 billion from ENI in the Offshore Cape Three Points (OCTP) Field to increase the production of both oil and natural gas. However, he stressed that increased production alone is not enough. “We are about to make history again. We did it during my first term, but after we left office it did not continue. In June, we will deliver a parcel of Ghanaian crude from our own oil fields to a refinery in Ghana for processing,” President Mahama announced to loud applause from the audience. The announcement is being viewed as a defining moment in Ghana’s petroleum industry and a significant step toward reducing the country’s dependence on imported refined petroleum products. For decades, Ghana has exported crude oil while importing refined fuels and petroleum products at considerable cost. President Mahama argued that such a model effectively exports jobs, technology, industrial growth, and economic opportunities to other countries. “Normally we produce the oil and export it. Then we import finished petroleum products or import crude again to refine. That cycle must change,” he stated. He explained that local refining will enable Ghana to capture more value from its natural resources, retain foreign exchange, strengthen local supply chains, stimulate industrial growth, and create thousands of direct and indirect jobs for Ghanaians. The President emphasized that the refining initiative forms part of a broader national industrial strategy aimed at building a fully integrated petroleum value chain encompassing extraction, refining, storage, petrochemicals, distribution, manufacturing and exports. Beyond oil and gas, President Mahama called for a national commitment to value addition across every productive sector of the economy. Using Ghana’s mineral sector as an example, he noted that the country continues to export raw gold, manganese, bauxite and other minerals for processing abroad, only to import higher-value finished products at a premium. “When we export raw materials and somebody else processes them, we create jobs in their economy instead of our own. The finished products are then exported back to us. That model cannot deliver sustainable prosperity,” he said. The newly elected President's speech emphasized his commitment to dialogue and the importance of fostering social cohesion within Somaliland. I would like to share my experience in Somaliland, especially for those who have never visited 1. *Hargeisa:Hargeisa’s Peace and Vibrancy* Hargeisa is a peaceful city where people go about their lives with focus and purpose. The city is bustling with commercial activities, and it is clear that the residents are optimistic about the future. During my visit, I witnessed a strong community spirit and a collective determination to transform the economy. 2. Somaliland’s Investment Potentia l My visit to Berbera showcased the transformative power of investment. The development of Berbera Port by DP World has injected substantial capital into the region, making it one of the largest and most efficient ports in the Horn of Africa. The port handles millions of metric tonnes of goods and has completely revitalized the city, opening up vast economic opportunities. Opportunities for Local and International Investors Somaliland is primed for investment, not just from its diaspora but also from the international community. The region's strategic location and stability make it an ideal destination for business. 2. Untapped Regional Markets There is immense potential for investment in manufacturing, given the untapped markets in neighboring countries such as Ethiopia, Yemen, Eritrea, Djibouti, and Oman. My home city, Maiduguri. Once the ground zero of the murderous terrorist group Boko Haram. A city that endured years of devastation, stagnation, and even recent destructive floods. At one point, nearly half of the city was under the shadow of terror. But our Maiduguri did not fall. Through resilience, courageous leadership, unity of its people, and by the will and mercy of God, the city has risen from the rubble. Today, Maiduguri stands as the pride of Northern Nigeria and a shining example of modernization, infrastructural growth, and growing local, national, and international investment. From pain to progress. From fear to faith. From destruction to development. We thank our leaders. We thank our people. And above all, we thank God for His mercy upon our city. Maiduguri our pride!!! Located in the Eastern #Homs desert (area of Khunayfis) it has also been modernized to enhance both production capacity and product quality. This is part of a Government plan to boost phosphate exports and create job opportunities in the sector. Phosphates are Syria's top natural resource and one of its key exports: with reserves estimated at up to 2 billion tons, it was the 5th largest exporter in the world until 2011. The plan aims to more roughly triple the 2010 export levels by 2027 (10 million tons).

In October 2025, the Prime Minister undertook a series of national and international engagements focused on infrastructure development, rural transformation, governance reform, and diplomatic cooperation. Here is a brief recap of the past month: 𝙊𝙣 𝙐𝙧𝙗𝙖𝙣 𝘿𝙚𝙫𝙚𝙡𝙤𝙥𝙢𝙚𝙣𝙩 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙁𝙤𝙧𝙚𝙞𝙜𝙣 𝘿𝙞𝙧𝙚𝙘𝙩 𝙄𝙣𝙫𝙚𝙨𝙩𝙢𝙚𝙣𝙩 A defining highlight of the month was the laying of the foundation stone for the urea fertilizer plant, a landmark project developed through a partnership between Ethiopian Investment Holdings and the Dangote Group. With an annual production capacity of three million tons, the plant will utilize natural gas from the Calub gas fields, transported through a 108-kilometer pipeline. This project is a cornerstone of Ethiopia’s strategy to achieve fertilizer self-sufficiency and enhance agricultural productivity. In the Somali Region, the Prime Minister also inaugurated the Gode Oil Refinery, developed by Golden Concord Group Limited (GCL). The refinery, designed to process 3.5 million tons of crude oil and condensate per year from the Hilala oil field, represents a significant step in Ethiopia’s path toward energy independence. Complementing these milestones, the Prime Minister inaugurated the first phase of the Ogaden Liquified Natural Gas (LNG) Project in Calub. He commended the Federal Supreme Court for implementing a Smart Court System featuring automated transcription, virtual hearings, and an Integrated Case Management System that enables litigants to track cases online. 𝙊𝙣 𝙈𝙚𝙙𝙞𝙖, 𝘾𝙪𝙡𝙩𝙪𝙧𝙚, 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙏𝙤𝙪𝙧𝙞𝙨𝙢 Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed attended the launch of the pan-African media outlet Pulse of Africa, a platform he first proposed during the 35th Ordinary Session of the African Union Assembly in 2022. The initiative seeks to amplify African perspectives, counter negative portrayals of the continent, and strengthen African unity through shared narratives. In his remarks, the Prime Minister emphasized that Pulse of Africa marks a significant step toward ensuring that Africans tell their own stories and shape their global image. Accompanied by First Lady Zinash Tayachew and a high-level delegation of former and current leaders, the Prime Minister also visited the Bale Zone to assess key development projects that integrate natural heritage with national progress. The delegation toured the Bale Mountains National Park, one of Ethiopia’s most ecologically diverse and economically significant natural areas. The Prime Minister observed ongoing tourism developments, including the nearly completed Dinsho Lodge at the heart of the park and the Sof Omer Luxury Lodge near the Sof Omer Cave. Both projects are designed to advance Ethiopia’s Ten-Year Strategic Plan by positioning tourism as a catalyst for economic transformation. The Sof Omer Cave Development Project complements these initiatives by improving access and visitor facilities around one of the country’s most celebrated natural landmarks. The delegation also inspected the Robe–Goro–Sof Omer–GinirJunction Road Upgrading Project, a dual asphalt roadway featuring five bridges that connect the productive agricultural zones of East Bale and Bale with central Ethiopia. The upgraded route enhances regional mobility, strengthens economic integration, and improves access to major tourist destinations such as the Bale Mountains National Park and Sof Omer Cave. In addition, the Prime Minister reviewed the Weib River Flood Control Project, which regulates water flow through the cave system to ensure year-round accessibility and protect its ecosystem. He also examined tourism development efforts in the Harenna cluster, including the construction of the Rira Eco Lodge, new viewpoints, restaurants, and coffee facilities along the routes leading to Tulu Dimtu, the park’s highest peak. These initiatives aim to expand sustainable tourism, create local employment, and showcase the natural and cultural richness of the Bale region. The visit concluded at the Fincha Habera Waterfall, where the delegation explored the surrounding landscape, home to the Ethiopian Red Fox, diverse birdlife, and striking geological formations such as the Rafu rock pinnacles. The area, which recently revealed a newly discovered cave system, will soon feature a glamping site designed to promote eco-friendly tourism. At the News18 Town Hall, I addressed a question often asked by critics: Is the #DravidianModel of high industrial growth and high welfarism sustainable? For us, the answer is not just "yes" it is the only way to build a "Good Society." As I shared, the state has three primary responsibilities: improving the quality of life through public goods, creating an environment where entrepreneurs and innovators can thrive, and keeping the gap between the rich and the poor as low as possible to ensure social cohesion. We have always prioritized the social aspects of governance, nutrition, health, and education, as the essential foundation for all growth. This is not just a welfare choice; it is a predicate for economic success. By building high-quality human capital, we ensure that global investment and jobs find us. The results speak for themselves: an 11.19% growth rate and a 700% increase in electronics exports in just the last few years. When critics highlight "better" fiscal metrics in other states, the trade-off is clear. I will always choose a path that invests in the lives and dignity of our citizens, even if it requires borrowing within manageable limits, rather than accepting models where massive capital expenditure coexists with high levels of multi-dimensional poverty. We do not measure success by the creation of a few super-rich billionaires while the average resident lags behind; we measure it by the quality of life and the capacity to aspire for every single citizen.
