NEW: Man seen swinging from the edge of a construction crane in downtown Austin, Texas. Dozens of people gathered to watch the individual swing back and forth and police were eventually called. According to Fox 7 Austin, when police arrived, the man was “repelling from the end of the crane on top of the building.” They called for an evacuation of the area before the man made his way to the crane’s ladder and entered the building. The man has not been identified and no arrests have been made.

🔴 COLLEGE STATION: This was Texas Avenue near Harvey Mitchell Parkway this afternoon. College Station Police say they were called to Goodwill for a suspicious person carrying a large knife. Officers later located the man near the old CSPD building and at some point he was holding the knife. Officers say they negotiated with the man for several minutes as he sat the knife on the ground. The man would later attempt to go back to the knife where an officer used a less lethal weapon to keep him from reaching the knife. He was safely taken into custody without further incident. He was transported to a local hospital for treatment and then booked into the Brazos County Jail. The man was identified as David Welch, and has been charged with possession of a controlled substance and he had 2 warrants. Thanks to CSPD PIO Officer Simmons for the updated information!
