This humanoid robot appears to be primarily designed for specialized industrial tasks, such as security patrols in underground parking lots. They previously launched the lightweight bipedal NVAI-2 and a wheeled humanoid robot. The bipedal robot is used in manufacturing operations, while the wheeled humanoid robot is used for unstructured, flexible tasks such as warehouse sorting, supermarket shelving, and office cleaning. Chinese humanoid robots broke records set by humans, including surpassing Usain Bolt’s 100-metre sprint world record, on the opening day of the Olympics-like World Humanoid Robot Games in Beijing on Saturday (August 22, 2026). At temperatures as low as −47.5°C, the robot walked across snow a distance equivalent to 130,000 steps. During the experiment, the robot trampled the Olympic rings into the snow — an emblem roughly 186 × 100 meters in size, visible from above. To prevent equipment failure, G1 was dressed in an insulated jacket and gloves.

Each form of the robot is driven by a VLA model. It can perform complex movements and can also be integrated into existing workflows to perform tasks. It's worth mentioning that this solves the problem of which type of humanoid robot to use. Each user can assemble the robot in a configuration that suits their specific scenario, making it truly flexible and versatile – it doesn't necessarily have to be bipedal or wheeled... I look forward to seeing more real-world use cases.

At the GalBOT "Space Capsule," I bought a bottle of Coca-Cola from a convenience store operated by a humanoid robot. It was smoother than I expected: screen selection, QR code payment, and the humanoid robot G1 retrieving and delivering the goods – all in one seamless process. It's worth noting that a human worker was still present inside, handling emergency situations. However, it can't yet take orders through speech, but this will change soon. People will be able to shop by naturally conversing with G1, paying with palm or facial recognition (e.g., Alipay), and the humanoid robot will autonomously fulfill orders without ever getting tired, always full of enthusiasm and patience. It is expected that convenience stores operated by humanoid robots will soon appear in the core areas and tourist zones of many Chinese cities this year, with companies like GalBOT, Astribot, and AI² Robotics deploying them in large numbers.
