HW3/AI3 cars were sold under the clear promise, straight from Elon and Tesla’s own website, that the hardware was sufficient for safe, unsupervised Full Self-Driving (see video below). HW4/AI4 cars, on the other hand, were explicitly marketed as capable of Supervised FSD. At no point did Elon or Tesla suggest that HW4/AI4 would deliver unsupervised autonomy.
