Did you know Rocket Lab originally had plans to catch their Electron rocket before settling on splashdown recovery?

kinda wish they still did, but I get it

Trying to vibe with a new F2P game that’ll give you all the nostalgic feels? Forgotten Playland is ready for your crew!

They actually did it a few times aswell but they had to drop it again into the ocean

Helicopter catch (attempts) were wild. Always thought it was too much and wouldn't work at scale tho. I know they did it in the past for film reels from observation sats, but it just felt antiquated and overly expensive and risky for modern day.

They actually tried it and almost succeeded. Was really cool.

I feel like it would be more common for people to not realise this isn't the plan anymore.

As I recall the idea turned out to suck and they moved on.

I knew, but WTF that wasn’t gonna go anywhere

Yes I watch all the tests. Unfortunately catching the booster caused to much oscillation in the helicopter and it proved to be unsafe for the pilots. Had high hopes for it though. Rocket Lab still has a great future ahead of them with Neutron. $RKLB is the best performing stock I have and they are just getting started.

i was so excited for that, the recovery heli was based at my local airport when they were attempting to recover it and it was always a treat when i got to see it take off or land

Peter really hated marine assets

Saturn V S-1C style

And it would have worked too. This was famously done with film capsules dropped from American spy satellites.

This was always a dumb idea imo.

Yes, I did know that.

Will we see a second fly of a revovered booster? Because we haven't seen the red labled rockets for a time now 🤔 is it cancled ?

Yes and it was cool as hell, even if impractical

Yes but everyone who knew, knew that wasn’t going to happen

Yesss:

We all know dude bruh😭

this is what originally made me bullish on this company
