While filming this dangerous stunt sequence in "Desperado" (1995), Antonio Banderas & Salma Hayek were tied to a cable connected to a crane. They had a harness attached under their costume. The crane was not operated by a professional. A construction worker who was working in a nearby building was given the job since they had very little budget. The scene wasn't rehearsed beforehand and the worker didn't have any experience with this sort of work. His job was to transport Banderas and Hayek from one roof to another. During the first attempt, Banderas hit the back of his head on the next building as the worker dropped the cable little bit too heavily. The scene had to be shot many times till he got it right. Banderas said, "I would never do that again (...) we were playing with our lives right then. And then there was an explosion behind us, a fire that has to fill the whole entire screen. There was no CGI. That was for real. And I remember the smell of, you know, burned hair. . . . My hair, Salma's hair and everybody that was behind the camera's hair."
