I'm now training a 65-year-old guy. Working on form for squats and deadlifts. Bodyweight and kettlebell to start then moving on to weights. I think think compound movements are important and I'm focusing on them.

This is why you should rarely listen to doctors when it comes to exercise. Listen to experts in the field, and we are not usually medical doctors.

You're absolutely right, I used to have rotten knees, and deep squatting has rehabbed them

I would agree with the doctor. It is extremely far fetch to compare professional lifters with average gym goer
