Vivek - you absolutely have to make a definitive statement that you will reduce our current gun laws. You need someone who can guide you on gun policy - I'm happy to do it. It's a winning issue. Trump lost the 2020 election because he lost the support of fervent gun owners.

Gangs doing what they do on the Cape Flats in broad daylight. This time by Eureka Estate and White City in Ravensmead. Even if the SA Police Service 🇿🇦 Anti-Gang Unit wanted to operate (which MANY of them desperately do) to remove these thugs from the streets, they simply don’t have the resources to do so. We will keep fighting for this on their behalf and also to remove the few rotten apples amongst them. The Western Cape SAPS management is removed from ground level reality. I spent the morning in Tafelsig, and there too, gangs do as they please when they please. We have a hell of a lot of work to do. I stand firm in my belief that if we don’t replace management, nothing can sustainably change.

It is amazing news to hear from the Ministry of Transportation that it has been arranged once again for the People of Plateau to have Flights between Abuja to Jos. The Maiden flight is going to be on the 21st of August, 2023. Value Jet will fly from Lagos to Jos, Jos to Abuja, and take off from Abuja back to Jos and then to Lagos. We are working for the railways to be operational as fast as possible so that the rail track from Bukuru to Jos will be fully deployed for the benefit of the people. We believe in God that despite the leanness of our resources, the one Institution we will revive as a key to solving some of the issues and challenges of our people, especially students, will be the scholarship board. We will revive it.

In less than one week, some (but not all) social media platforms will be required by Australian law to prevent under 16s from accessing their services. How will they enforce the rules? We don’t really know. Will more and more platforms be captured by the law? We don’t really know. Will every Australian adult need to verify their identity in order to prove their age? We don’t really know. What do we know? Well we know that the Government are out there desperately trying to sell it. Socialist candidate Donavan McKinney says he opposed a bill to increase penalties for fleeing from police, because black people who get pulled over "have to do it" due to inherited traumas: "We all know we get that feeling, every time we see a cop. Whether they pull us over or not, if we see them, we like, 'Oh shit, hold on. Turn that down. Hold on, hold on, hold on. Don't pull me over.' As black people, we get that feeling because of the harm and the trauma that was passed down from our predecessors, our ancestors to now. We feel that, every inch. We feel that. But only black people know what that feeling is, to some degree. And now, with this ICE situation, I think other ethnic groups are starting to feel the same wrath of what black people have to go through day in and day out in this country. But I talked about how -- even though the intent might be good of the bill, because we want to prevent law-abiding citizens from fleeing the police and the police having to chase them -- but I understand why they have to do it in the first place, because they feel like their life is on the line, too. And because of this the logic some people seem to think well, we just shouldn’t enforce laws anymore. But the problem is, criminals usually victimize people around them. And the people they’re victimizing also tend to be disproportionately poor, disproportionately marginalized, disproportionately from deprived backgrounds too. Compared to Americans who earn more than $75,000 a year, the lowest-income Americans are 7 times more likely to be victims of aggravated assault, 7 times more likely to be victims of robbery, and 20 times more likely to be victims of sexual assault and homicide. Virtually every crime you can think of — the poor are the most likely to be victimized by it. And what gets lost is that poor people are much more likely to be victimized by crime than to be perpetrators of crime. But we focus so much of the attention on the perpetrators — and how they come from marginalized and deprived backgrounds — and we just don’t think nearly as much about the victims. What happens to them. What their lives look like afterward. And I think that’s a shame. I mean, if there’s a criminal who commits an act, we should spend more time thinking about how to help the victim than the perpetrator. From my conversation with Garry Tan
