@MathTherapy @mathyawp Skills vs. Number sense and most times because we are trying to close gaps the focus remains on skills and computation, but we forget to connect "virtue" and number sense to the math 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾. I really appreciate the conversation you both shared!

@MathTherapy @mathyawp Yes! Thank you so much for listening and sharing!!
@MathTherapy @mathyawp Here in Italy we say: "Parole sante!". A math teacher in high school must not neglect abstract topics, but first thing to do is promote the development of reasoning skills that are distinctive of the human being. Otherwise we are not doing right by our students

@MathTherapy @mathyawp I absolutely love this! Viva Italia 🇮🇹🙌

@MathTherapy @mathyawp Omg! I have to listen. I love him!

@MathTherapy @mathyawp GO LISTEN NOW AND REPORT BACK🫡

@MathTherapy @mathyawp Peer reviewed interventions for these proposed target outcomes yet? Def want to learn more (my “math virtue” is stat. sig. effect size 🤓) Very cool!

@mathyawp @MathTherapy I love the example of 39*4=2000, and the virtue vs. skill distinction. I do think we teach factoring quadratics for reasons beyond the “skill” requirement though.

@ShellyMJones1 @MathTherapy @mathyawp Right?! Such a vibe!🙏
