We studied the habitual diets of over 1,000 patients in remission for up to four years to find clear answers. While we found no consistent signals from fiber or ultra-processed foods, we identified a significant association between meat intake and flare risk in ulcerative colitis. A ketogenic diet doesn’t just help with weight loss. It can drastically increase your odds of surviving one of the world’s deadliest cancers. By “drastic,” we don’t mean a modest improvement. We mean an eight-fold increase in survival. Dr. Shawn Baker explains: “There was a study published last year on brain tumors. About 20 patients. Half did a ketogenic diet, half did not.” “Over three years, 8 percent of the people that did not do the ketogenic diet survived, and 68 percent survived in the keto group.” That’s an eight-fold increase in survival. Baker explains that the mechanism traces back to Otto Warburg’s research: cancer cells preferentially absorb glucose. They feed on sugar. A ketogenic diet deprives cancer cells of their primary fuel source while providing ketones as an alternative energy source for healthy cells. Healthy cells can function just fine, whereas cancer cells starve and die. Dr. Thomas Seyfried of Boston College has been advocating ketogenic diets for cancer patients for years for this very reason.
